Hi - my daughter Rebecca - age 21 (developmentally at age 4) has had an increase of tonic clonic seizures since her VNS was increased last week. It is now at 1.5 and I am thinking they need to reduce it back to 1.25. She also has a sort of "glossy look" to her. She is not herself. She only weighs 85lbs and also takes keppra and Epival. Spent last night in the hospital from a head injury and had 3 tonic clonics.....worried and loving Mother to Rebecca.....Paula

Hi - I think we will monitor her over the weekend and then consider having it reduced if she doesn't adjust. Her doctor is concerned about the length of her seizures and not as concerned with how many she has (at this time)....the VNS has reduced the length of them in combination with giving midazolam after 5 minutes. This does mean she is drugged up more than we are comfortable with.
We continue to strive for the right balance........Paula
