Hello all.

I wanted to sum up my testing/diagnosis numbers from before and after the surgery.

My initial PSA was 13.5 in November, 2006. Bone scan and CT scan were both negative. Needle biopsy results gave a Gleason's score of (3+3+6), and indicated a fair amount of involvement in the left side, but none in the right side. I was not staged at that time.

Radical prostatectomy was done on January 26, 2007. The pathology report was a bit worse than the initial diagnosis. The good news is that the lymph nodes and seminal vessicles were all cancer-free, as were the bladder neck and the urethra. But the pathology showed that both sides of the prostate were involved, my Gleason's score was raised to (4+3=7), I had positive margins involving striated skeletal muscle, and I was now staged at T3a.

Just this week I had my first post-op PSA test. This was at a little over 4 weeks post-op, and it came in at 0.1, which was very good news to me.

I am indeed looking at having radiation therapy and maybe hormone therapy as well. I will begin looking into this next week.

Until next time....keep the faith.

I'm 7 weeks post-op. My first post-op PSA at 37 days came in at <0.01 which was good news for me.

At that visit my uro told me if my PSA reading gets to 0.02 or above, he'd be talking to me about radiation therapy.

I was a bit surprised!
