I keep hearing about all the insomnia issues people keep having with the Chantix. I ain't seeing it! I want to sleep morning, noon and night. I want to invent an NEW time of day just so I could sleep through it also! Alas I am too tired to go to all the trouble of inventing anything at this point in time.
Anyone else in the sleepy boat with me?
Two days, 55 minutes and 3 seconds. 71 cigarettes not smoked, saving $14.27. Life saved: 5 hours, 55 minutes.

LOL! I felt like I was under water for the first few weeks on Chantix - actually a great feeling. Very calm. Just sleepy. Now, after 45 days, I still feel sleepy sometimes but i also know that I wasn't sleeping well the last days of smoking so I'm not that bothered. Have you had the dreams yet??
I started having the dreams on I think my second night. They are wild and amazing for ure. I've went fom being a staffer on the oprah Winfrey show to being romanced by a French God named Remy who spent hours searching Paris high and low for my perfect shampoo. :) Of course there was the one night that Harry Potter and Pichachu combined powers to produce such a horrendous fart that it took out the entire Chinese Army. Whew! What nights I have been having! :jester: :jester: :jester:

LucyRoberts,
I was very sleepy at first. I slept for the first week or so about 12 hour a day and wanted to sleep more!!
I never did have the dreams!! Sounds like a new movie each night.
You're doing so good. Two days down!! A lifetime to go!!
Keep it up!!

Sleepiness could be yet another nicotine withdrawal symptom due to a sudden shortage of adrenalin being triggered when you quit. I gave in to sleeping 12 hours a night for the first month but now I walk, cycle, dance and sing in the bath and feel really energised. Chantix also seems to reduce anxiety and perhaps over relax a little. Fear not!! Big hits of energy will be coming your way soon:blob_fire :blob_fire

Hi Lucy: In the beginning, I was just like you described. It last about 11 days. I decided that I wasn't smoking 'cause I wasn't awake long enough :) But...it passed after that 11th day. I'm sleeping really well...feel so rested when I wake. I've always dreamed, so nothing new there. Still dreaming and having a good time in them. Thursday night, dreamed I'd won a million dollar lottery!

lol I dreamed one night that my Brad Pitt look a like brother and his Angelina Jolie wife, with my neice, were moving in with my family until they could get back on there feet. Then a friend (Ashton Kutcher) wanted to move in with us too. My husband didn't want him to but I felt really sorry for him. lol
Then I looked in the mirror and I looked like I did 20 years ago, but with a lot better hair.

Those are some awesome dreams on the Chantix. I didn't take Chantix so no really good dreams. I really like your dream, delighted. Who wouldn't want to accept an Oscar. Anyways. I haven't had too many dreams that I remember. I pretty much are zonkers. Most nights I get up around 2 or 3ish in the morning.
Anyways, everyone is doing a great job...keep it up!

This not sleeping thing is driving me nuts. When I go to bed at night I’m exhausted. But then I get up a 3AM wide-awake. At 5:30 could go back to sleep but then I have to get up a 6 to go to work so there is no point. I forced myself not to take a nap so I took a walk instead thinking that it would help me sleep, but unfortunately it didn’t work out. I hope that this clears up for me.
The dreams are a crazy side effect. I never could remember my dreams before. How realistic. I just hope I don’t have a nightmare with this stuff. Maybe I shouldn’t have said that because now I probably will.

Hi Tom,
I had the same problem. How far into your quit are you? I reduced my chantix to 1 mg a day and that helped me. I didn't notice a big difference in cravings, and I still felt in control. I needed the sleep, and feel more rested now.
Good luck!

I have been reading all the posts about Chantix with great enthusiasm. I, too, must quit the cigarettes. For the past couple of weeks, I have had the most severe case of bronchial asthma/asthmatic bronchitis/whatever that I have ever had in my life. The inability to breathe was scary. It exhausted me, just trying to take a breath. If this episode was a portent of my future, then I have no future.
I had heard of Chantix, and finally went to my doctor for a script. I started them yesterday. Thankfully, with all the tips I have read on these boards, I knew to eat and drink a lot of water with each pill. So far, only minimal nausea. And I was very intrigued by the increased dreams a lot of people seemed to experience.
Last night, my first night on this drug, I dreamt all night. This is unusual for me; and I was really looking forward to some exciting and unusual dreams. Unusual, yes, yet nonsensical and confusing and downright silly.
Actually, I was hoping I would have dreams like I first did when I started Prozac several years ago. Those were pizazzy, technicolor dreams! They even serialized themselves....I looked forward each night to the next episode of my dream life.
These dreams, however, were disjointed. Yet very interesting. And I woke up rather refreshed. And I do look forward to tonight, as well.
I have been so sick that I had already tapered down to about 5 cigarettes a day. Just as several of you have described, they simply are not as desirable as before. I have very high hopes that I can quit. For me, that is almost a miracle.
Thanks for all the input on this very enlightening board, good luck to each of you, and I look forward to your comments on your progression on this difficult journey.

I am now on day 3 of the first week, let me tell you two of the dreams I have had. Sunday the first day of taking Chantix I dreamed Hubby and I were at a hotel. We checked in and to get to our room we had toi go up a flight of stairs in the lobby. Well we went up to our room and I couldn't find something in our luggage so I went back down those stairs and outside. Whatever it was I was looking for wasn't in the car so I went back inside to go up the stairs to our room. Well the stairs I had just walked down a few minutes earlier looked completely different in style and color. Then before I coulkd put a foot on these new stairs the stairs changed style and color yet again and this happened every 3 seconds. It took about 20 minutes of them changing shape before the stairs became the style that led to our room. When I finally got up to our room Hubby asked me what took me so long and I told him and he didn't believe a word I said.
Then last night (my second day of the pill) Hubby and I went on a trip to Colorado (we live in Florida). Well Hubby is a roller coaster nut and where we were in Colorado had a special coaster that wound around three mountains as well as through. But you didn't have to leave your vehicle to ride it, you stayed in your vehicle for the whole ride. Some of the track was a regular road, some sections was railroad tracks, other sections was roller coaster rails and yet other sections was grating that moved as you road on it. There was curves, dips, water, it went upside down and had cork screws. This coaster had everything you can imagine a coaster would have. There was also people at stations working on circuit boards every 1/2 mile, who also kept an eye on the coaster riders. Well when we were going over that grating I told you about we came upon a dip and a curve and there at the curve working at his circuit board was Chuck Norris. He looked up as we approached the curb in our convertible (the top was down),he saw us, sniled and said Hi Marguerite, how are you doing? He answered he was fine. When we got a ways past him, my Hubby turned to me and and said, How the h*** does he know you and your name. I told Hubby we had met him the night before at a party. Well soon after that the ride was over and we decided to go home and it only took us 45 minutes to drive home from the mountains in Colorado to our house in Florida.

I agree we should write a book, my dreams are very vivid and seem real. Unlike normal dreams without the Chantix, and certain more entertaining and exciting.

Greeting all Chantix users,
I posted a few comments, read all the posts, now I am going to tell you some of my experiences. When I started Chantix I was about a pack a day smoker and smoked for 27 years. I saw success right away and in the first couple days I completely quit. I fell of the wagon and had lots of excuses it lasted about 3 weeks. When I picked up my 2nd prescription of Chantix I was told by pharmasict that insurance pays for only 45 days, , basically insurance pays for the 1st two boxes. So when I decided I was going to give it another chance I knew this was it, no more chances. I've now been free from smoking 2 weeks, this time I feel different, I feel confident I won't turn back because I ran out of excuses and I made it through things this time around that I let get to me the first time.
I'm going to list a couple issues I had the 1st time around that prevented my success in hopes this helps someone reading this.
I thought I could handle being around everyone else I knew that smoked and not be tempted, in thruth it about killed me not to have a smoke when they did. I had people I could run to that would give me a cigarette and not care what they were doing to or for me. Seems like other people who still smoke when you are quitting do not want to see you succeed. I had to learn that and this time around I didn't tell them or go around them and I learned I am not going to put up with it. I AM STRONG! Another huge problem I had was not the driving in car that one was one of my easy hurdles, but the phone with family mainly or friends when I had to lend a listening ear to their problems. Well this week I made it though all that and I am just so proud of myself. When I made it past the 1st call I said outloud wow I didn't even feel like I wanted a cigarette, thats when I knew I really made it through tough times with Chantix help.
Although my side effects are many the results are my main goal. I have several health problems and take several medications already, I've been on these other medicines long before I started Chantix so I am well aware these are Chantix side effects and I did find that constipation is a big issue, try the MiraLax it works wonders also drink alot of water. I did get nauseous if I didn't take Chantix on a full stomache, not just a cracker or a little bit of something. Even with the food I can get a smidge of nausea not always but it goes away quickly within a few seconds. :D
The dreams are the next best thing to being smoke free with Chantix, just read some of the other comments and threads. I had a dream I was in a theatre my seat was next to the wall and all I wanted was to be on the end near the isle and no one wanted to move, one at a time they would tell me just stay there sit down the show is starting soon. I heard all this whispering the show is starting now, the lights came up the show began and bright, colorful, sweet, angels appeared in multitudes. They stared flying every which way and everyone was following them. I was amazed at what was going on around me but I knew it was ok because I felt a peace all about the theatre. I remember thinking then I wasn't about to be left behind I got up and helped others and we followed the angels too.
I did read in here about heart palpitations, I have been having some the last couple days I believe. This I am going to have to watch closer because am not sure it is Chantix or something else going on in me. Since I am not sure just yet I can not comment to much on this part. But I was a little worried last night, so I cut my 2nd dose for the day out and did just fine no cravings.
My last comment here has to be about the enhancement, don't laugh but it seems like it does for women as Viagra does for men. I saw one other comment on this, aren't there others out there with the same thing happening?:)
