I just had 10 teeth pulled today, and got a denture put in, my question is, the top denture in the back of my mouth up by the roof gags me, i made them file it down some, even though they said its normal. but i am still gagging, and bottom denture is loose, which they said is normal? please advise.

thank you
roxy

The sensations you are experiencing are completely normal. Your mouth and tongue have to get used to having the foreign objects in there. The looseness of the lower is a combination of it being new and it is probably an immediate which means the impressions were taken with some of your real teeth in place so the fit will not be perfect. As you heal, you will need many adjustments and relines along the way. Do you know if your treatment plan calls for replacing your immediate dentures with a new set after healing and shrinkage of your gums takes place? The dentures you would get then would fit much better, be less bulky and probably better looking too.

Good luck and come back with your questions often-

Sandy
