I got a report from my Dr. on an x-ray of my back that was taken a week or two ago. I am wondering if anyone can translate it into what this means for me in the future. Here is what it said:

Arthritis in L5-S1. There is prominent disc space narrowing and some anterior osteophyte formation as well as endplate sclerosis at L5-S1.

Some of what the report says is familiar to me --anterior is the front of your body so there is excess bone growths to the from part of the L5 S1 vertebrae. The end plates are also bone where the discs attach but I don't know what sclerosis is. I would call your doctor so he can explain this. I hope this helps

Thanks for your response. My Dr. ordered two more x-rays and I waiting for the report which should be here some time next week. She said the scoliosis was common with the osteoarthritis. I still don't know what to expect or if it can be treated, or even if it will get worse. So many questions, and no answers yet.
