Hello! My name is Jeannie and I am taking Chantix to quit smoking. I am on day 9, and almost 2 days w/o a cigarette. I love this stuff! I am a little irritable at times, yesterday was worse...but it can only get better from here. I dont know if anyone has this side effect...but I do not have an appetite. Which is better than wanting to eat everything in site, if this continues, at least I wont have to worry about gaining weight. I really cant gain any, I am already needing to lose some. Anyway, I think Chantix is a wonderful invention! I LOVE IT! Good luck to all who are on the same journey as me. YOU CAN DO IT!

Hi Jeanie: Welcome! My appetite hasn't been the same (thankfully!) since I started the rx. It's gotten better as time has gone on, but I'm still never really very hungry. In the beginning, I had to almost force myself to eat.

Glad you're doing well w/ Chantix. It's great! No question about it.

...almost 2 days w/o a cigarette. Jeannie, congratulations on the decision to become a non-smoker!!! This will be the most important health decision you have ever made!! :blob_fire :blob_fire Two days quit is awesome... watch out for day 3, many on here say that is worse than day 1 and 2. Stay strong and come back and let us know how you are doing!! :)

Hi Jeannie!!
Welcome to the best support group anywhere!! You're gonna love it here!

I too had no appetite. I had to force myself to eat each time I took a pill. It is the only time in my life that I didn't want to eat. haha!
For me day one was the worse. It got easier after that. For some day 3 is the worse. I think the reason day 3 is so bad for some people is because it takes 3 days for the nicotine to get out of your system. And old nicodemon is screaming at you to feed him!! The Chantix makes the withdrawal symptoms more bareable. You are on your way to a healthier life. Stopping smoking is the most important thing you could do to improve your health. Congratualtions on you decision to do this!!
Keep posting and let us know how you are doing. Let us know in what ways we can help you through this. Everyone here is cheering for you!!

Yesterday I struggled a little bit, but I didnt have one...YAY!!! I wanted one in the worst way, & I was a little bit crabby. But hey I got thru it. I do think it was the worst day yet. But thats okay, Im not expecting Chantix to be this magic pill. I know I have to put some effort into it too, and I will suffer. But its for the best. I see all of this sick people with cancer and heart problems when I go to clinical. 75% of them are smokers. It scares the crap out of me. I have also learned that EVERY TYPE OF CANCER one of the top risks is SMOKERS. It was different for me to actually SEE these people. I wasnt too motivated when I just read it in a book. I never thought I would be able to handel quitting smoking while going thru nursing school (it is so challanging) but I am and it feels soooo wonderful! I even have a pack of smokes in my freezer (for my husband to use, cause he is still a smoker) and I still havnet had one.

Thank you ALL for all of your support. You really are amazing people. Have a wonderful SMOKE FREE DAY!!!!!

DJK -

NICE WORK getting through the day without giving in to the nicodemon! I know how tough it can be some days, but doesn't it feel great that you are strong enough to stay FREE????

I remember feeling like such a loser when I found out someone I worked with had cancer - he didn't smoke....and there I was, smoking, when I knew the risks. I am so glad to be rid of that feeling of being a hypocrite, and the stress I felt when I smoked, knowing how bad it was for me.

STAY STRONG!

Welcome Jeannie!

Keep up the good work. Congratulations on making it through the dreaded day 3. These days will just make you stronger---when you have another bad day, just remember you made it through Day 3 (which was when nicotine was still a major factor). Any other bad days, you can get through! I had 2 really bad days in my 2nd week (day 10 and day 12) but kept reminding myself that I made it through Day 3. You've made it this far and have such a great attitude, I know you'll do fine. Remember this board. It was truly a lifesaver for me, esp. my first 2 weeks!

Keep it up---we're proud of you!

Now Im on day 5...woohoo!!! My bestfriend & I are doing this together, and she hasnt smoked either. My hubby wants to quit, but I dont know when. Its alright, he will do it when he is ready.

Thank goodness I have found you all. I am another Chantix user and doing OK so far. It is great to see some success stories. Day 8 on Chantix for me and started my first day of Ciggs without nicotene. My own little master plan. I cant wait to be free of the very thing that has run my life for the past 20 years. It will be sooooo liberating to go to the movies without being uncomfortable, going to dinner at someones house and not spending half the night on the front porch and not choose my vacations based on what state has what smoking laws. This drug is fabulous but hard on the stomach. If you guys can do it....I guess I can!

Hello to the newcomers and welcome to our "Oh-So-Popular" Quitter's Club. We have quite a few members, but always have room for a few more....weclome and congrats on your decision to become a non-smoker.

It's great that you and your friend are quitting together - it really does help, to have someone quitting with you. But I found that spending many, many hours on this message board was a tremondous help too! Like in the evenings, when I would usually smoke, I would spend like 100 hours online!! (not really, but is was concerning me how long I was on here :p ) then I realized, this is my therapy - I needed this to quit smoking......so whatever it takes, just do it. I also said to myself, "Self, you can do anything you want, eat anything you want, go buy something if you want it, as long as you don't smoke one more stinking cigarette". And you know what? It worked! Well, IS working......I haven't gained much weight, maybe a lb. or 2, course I'm only a week into it. But I'm trying not to get fat before summer, I'd hate to have to give up my two-piece bathing suits!

Anyways, good luck in your quit and keep coming back here to post your progress. You will find there are many people going thru exactly what you are going thru, or have already gone thru it, and can tell you what to expect next. So, hats off to you all, and we'll be talking again soon....:blob_fire

Hi heldhostage!!
Welcome to you. You are gonna love this message board. It is the very best one on the Internet!! The nicest people are here.
I'm so glad you decided to become healthy by quitting smoking. It is a nasty addiction, isn't it?
I quit using Chantix over 6 months ago. It played havoc with my stomach. But I toughed it out the entire 12 weeks. If it gets to you too much, call your doctor! Mine helped me.
Everyone here will help you in any way we can. Just keep posting and let us know how you are doing. And welcome aboard!!
