I went to the ER Thursday Morning and while there passed a stone within an hour after getting there.. once I passed the stone I wasn't in anymore pain at all .. they then took me and gave me a CT scan and said I had another stone that was a 3cm stone just right above my bladder.....Friday , I felt like I had to urinate more than often most of the time .... later on that day for about 3 hours I noticed that my urine had a pinkish color to it.. it then went back to a normal color . I have been using a strainer whenever I urinate and so far haven't seen a stone at all........ I am wondering if the stone has moved into my bladder and is just sitting there someplace .It doesn't hurt or anything when I urinate either. .... I have a doctor's appt set up as a followup but that is like a week from this coming up Thursday.... I guess I am just wondering if I still have a kidney stone or not.

Chances are that both stones are now resting in your bladder (better here than in your kidney or ureter!). Keep drinking lots of water to help them pass completely out. This could take a week but mostly occurs within a few days. Some stones (especially the larger ones) can sit in the bladder longer. I hope you meant a 3mm stone instead of a 3cm because a stone that large must be surgically removed. When the stone(s) does pass, do have it analyzed. This information could possibly help you to prevent future stone growth.

Thanks for replying... the doc probably meant 3mm and just said 3 cm by mistake.the first stone I know is gone because I know I passed that one in the restroom.. I had a kidney stone about 11 years ago and it felt exactly like it did when I passed that one....... the doctor also said that the ct showed that there are a lot of stones inside my kidneys also but that they could stay there for a long while and doesn't know when or if they will ever come out...(hopefully they will stay put) ...!!!! can a kidney stone stay in a bladder indefinately and cause no probs?

I haven't seen my family doctor yet... I've only seen the ER doctor and he read the Cat scan report to me and told me to make doctor appt with my family doctor which I did so basically I have no clue what is up about the stones in my kidneys except what the er doctor said was in the report...the ER doc said to make the appt with my dr for 2 weeks so that is what I did...I guess i will find out more then about the stones....It doesn't make me feel at ease knowing anything about it. I wish the appt was a lot sooner that what it is.

And your family doc may tell you to see a urologist. If you do not need a referral, you may want to consider skipping the middle man (in this case the family doc).

I don't understand leaving the stones alone. They do grow...thats why I have my screen name.

You must be more proactive.. and yes, try to skip the middleman.

I have another question: once the 3 mm kidney stone got into my bladder could it have broken into VERY TINY TINY pieces and I passed it without even knowing it and the strainer didn't pick up any of it?

The strainer (if issued by a doctor or ER) will pick up any pieces of the stone if broken. Sometimes they take a while to pass completely out. Most important, save any remnants for analysis. A diet change and/or medication might rid you of any future stone growth.

Hello there!
you need to see a (Nephrologist) kidney's specialist as soon as possible if you have some stones therefore those stone has to be removed, drinking water i do not recommed regular water from the faucet but distilled is ok and green coconut water is a lot better, one glass every hour you have to watch your diet as well your kidney doctor supposed to provide you with a good diet, you see the faucet water sometimes is dirty because the system is old, no matter if you have a good filter system, you are lucky that the stones has not start to cut on your kidneys, is like when you can't stand the pain it's so intense it will get you down on the floor, it's worse than a woman giving birth to big child, believe me i have been there, don't eat nut and tomatoes for now until you flush out all those stones, mine was the size of a shirt botton and flat as well.

Good luck to you!

Hello there!

All has to do a lot with your diet, tomatoes, nuts, pop sodas are no good for you, drinking water from the faucet is no good for you regardless of the filtration system you have, i passed mine drinking green coconuts water, one glass about 8 oz every hour for 13 days, if you are going to buy the coconuts water make sure is the green one pure no additives, if you can't afford it then use the distilled water, when urinating use a strainer or white container so you can see the stone passing some of them are like sand in size, since you been having stone for long time you need to purchase a water distiller if you have the time to do your own water, drink distilled water for life, it's good to anlize your stone and see what are they made of so you can avoid eating or drinking what's in it.

I hope this help a little.
