Hi, just very worried about clots now. I had heard that a small % of clots when you have your period can also travel and become a embolism. Can this be true? If so, I am petrified, I am 48 and have alot of bleeding and clotting due to a fibroid. I am trying to stay active. Does anyone know if this is true!!??? Thanks in advance Wendy

I'm pretty sure that is not true. I really don't think you have anything to worry about as far as that is concerned!! :)

Hi Jen thank you for your reply. Its just that I read somewhere that a small % of clots can start in your pelvic region and i thought maybe your uterus was included. I take my baby asprin, who knows if this will help. The weird thing is that my X for 15 yrs took an asprin a day, no doctor ever told him to, then he dies from a clot? It is surreal, I cannot imagine why this happened and maybe someday I will know the answers. The coroner said he had hypertension, but never knew it, I guess they could tell from either his heart or veins, they said he had little clots around his heart tissue. I wonder if this means if he went on without knowing and didn't have dvt then the clots would of given him a heart attack or stroke?? What do you think? Thanks Wendy

Well a clot to the heart would cause a heart attack, a clot to the brain would cause a stroke, and a clot to the lungs causes a pulmonary embolism.
