Has anyone else been hit by depression as a side effect of Avonex?
I am in my third month of Avonex and in the past couple of weeks, my emotions have been all over the place (quick to cry, easily irritated) and lately I have gotten really depressed.
Neuro says get on SSRI antidepressents, but I have another four days to go before my scheduled appointment with my primary doctor's office to get them.
I'm barely hanging on. (I just want to be alone and/or sleep.)
It would make me feel better if I knew someone else has gone through this and that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I felt like I was losing my mind. Neuro put me on 75mg Effexor/day, It has made a difference.

Hi, thanks for responding. Neuro came to the rescue with a script for Lexapro, 10 MG. Should be 4-6 weeks for final effectiveness, though I should get some easing of symptoms in 1-2 weeks. Just because something is finally being done about it, I am feeling a bit more optimistic. Thanks for sharing, it
helps me!
