View Full Version : Facial swelling with infected tooth?

I have a molar that is just gone but a little stalk. It started hurting Saturday last week & was unbearable but I made it into the dentist yesteraday who gave me antibiotics and pain killers.

Then last night my cheek started to swell down by the corner of my mouth. Now it's huge this a.m. & very tender to the touch.

To me the odd part is that its so far away from the infected tooth. Anyone ever experience this?

I am calling the dentist asap this a.m. though. Just curious in the meantime.

Thanks,

Az.

It sounds to me like you have an abscess. if it is one? i would get myself an emergency appointment at the dentist and have it drained asap. i had a terrible one before which flared up within a couple of hours, once i had it sliced open and drained the pain disappeared almost instantly....

Well its an abscess but he didnt drain it, he just gave me stronger antibiotics & offered to pull it right then but I had to go back to work so I'll just hang on til Friday.

Thanks :)
