i have now gained weight in anorexia recovery and am at a healthy weight for my height.

but i havent got my period back..

why is this? i would have thought i would have got it by now..its getting me quite worried

Sometimes, it takes awhile. My period didn't come back until I was around 3 months at a healthy weight for my height. Your body has been through a lot of trauma with the ED and it takes the ovaries awhile to start functioning again sometimes. If you are 3 months at a healthy weight and still without a period, you can see the doctor. Sometimes, they will prescribe Provera or Prometrium to help jumpstart your cycles. Has it been 3 months at a healthy weight and still eating correctly and not overexercising or purging?

Congrats on your recovery - I wouldn't be worried about not getting your period back yet. As far as I can tell on my reading from this, everyone is different. I in the terminal stage of anorexia yet have never completely lost my period, nor do I have other typical severe symptoms like lanugo, however, my hair is rapidly falling out and I am also suffering from edema and likely in heart failure mode. I recently lost weight yet got my period for the first time in months this week. I don't understand why and have to believe that each body is very unique and menstrual cycles are not based on weight / health alone. Sorry I don't have more answers for you but I thought sharing might help and wanted to encourage you not to despair. I am sure your period will return if you continue on a good path and would encourage you not to worry too much about it at this stage.
