I've been reading that it's the best pill for peri because it's 26 days on...so the sharp and usually prolonged estrogen drop experienced on other pills is avoided. Kariva is the generic. If anyone hated it, please let me know...because that is most likely the low dose pill I will go on, if any.

The diuretic effect of Yasmine and Yaz concerns me too much....and Mircette was the other low dose bcp highly recommended in the book I'm reading. Thanks! Reading these boards has been so helpful during this process.

Well, i thought Mircette was one of the third generation pills with Desogen (or whatever it is...a form of the word...) in it...and i thought that was bad. I read some articles this morning about the Desogen thing, so idk how you feel on it, and if it is really as bad for you as they say, or what, but alot of women on other sites said desogen was the only thing that would help their periods, cramps, endo, etc.

I was on Kariva, the generic. I absolutely HATED it. I ended up with month long periods, very painful periods, huge clots, but that's just how it effected my body. Every woman is different, so honestly it's just a guessing game on what works for you. I would talk with your gyn. or doctor about your concerns about different pills and maybe come together on something. Good luck!

there's been some recent research that indicates the progestin used in mircette gives you a higher chance of blood clots. i asked my doctor and she said it's all theoretical, but i'm too scared to go back on it again. i was on it for a week until i quit because i read the news.

I was on Mircette for 1 year and I loved it. I had bad cramps before going on it, and I wasnt regular. My cramps went away and so did my zits. The bad part was the Kariva. They switched me for insurance reasons, and I know they are suppose to be the same pill but trust me they arent! The Kariva made me gain weight, about 16 pounds in 1 year. I worked out alot and watched what i ate but it didnt help, so watch out for kariva, its not good.

I was on kariva for a lil more than 2yrs for endometriosis...After a year it did take away 90% of the pain...But I gained 28pds in 2 yrs..Hair loss...moodiness...no sex drive...extreme fatigue... Ive been off it for 6wks now and the energy is quickly returning..Hair seems healthier...no change in weight loss but thats because the symptoms of endo has returned w/bloating...But Ill be having surgery for that on may 11th so hopefully I can see a change in the weight..But honestly Id rather deal with the pain then the horrible side affects Ive had
