I need to know if you go through withdrawl if you stop Ambien. Should it be weaned off slowly? Also, can this drug cause hairloss? I know some say it can and others say it doesn't. Has anyone dealt with this drug? I'm desperate to get off of it but am afraid of what if any withdrawls it has.

yes, yes, yes, ambien can cause widthdrawl symptoms...quite severe at that.i strongly suggest that you taper.....i ended up in the hospital to get offthem....ativan can work as can phenobarbital. just be careful...it can cause seizures if you come off too fast....i suggest talking to a doc and get some advice about how to come off.....it took me a week to wean off.
as for hair loss....i'd be bald if that was true....goodluck....peace

I keep getting mixed messages on this...my dr says I will have no problem in withdrawing from Ambien...my treatment plan is to stay on it for 6 months. She says it will be a rough few nights of no sleep, but that is no danger. So, are there real wds from this that should be of concern? Anyone, please share their stories...I'm worried about it.

i was taking Ambien alot. even during the day . i would take about 4 a night because my body got so use to them so i needed more.
the withdraws are horrible. i got very bad Anxiety from not taking them. depressed also. and very moody.
i got 30 of them from the doc and they were gone in 4 days.
i haven't had any in a bout 4 days . right now im on Klonopin and i think that's helping with the withdraws but i also have insomnia from not having my Ambien.

im addicted to Benzos and i might be going to detox the end of the week because i cant do this alone anymore. i tried but i definitely need help.
i tell people that i have a hard time sleeping at night ((they dont no about my addiction)) but i tell them that so they can say they have a sleep aid for me so i can get sleep.
its thought. i have 6 klonopins left and im very scared because of the withdraws. its pretty bad when i dream about pills.

Whoa...why did you take the Ambien during the day? To sleep? I take one 10 mg right before bed and it seems to do the trick for me. I hope I don't build a tolerance to them, but my dr doesn't seem to think it's an issue to be on them for 6 months. I'm grateful...I'm getting the best sleep I've had in my whole life!! LOL. I don't think it's addicting, like my drug of choice was (vicodin), so haven't been worried about that. I know when I come off of it, I probably won't sleep for a few nights, but that's about all my dr said would happen.

Yikes! Ok, point taken and heard. If I find myself compulsing over them, I'll just tell my dr...so far, I'm fine just taking the RX'd dose and am only using them for sleep.
