Hi I don't think it's heart-related, but more likely to be a cramp or stitch.
I don't think it's a clot moving around - your buddy is trying to scare you.
Nevertheless you did the right thing getting it checked and taking a stress test. The stress test includes an ECG test that looks at the heart's performance and function under a work load. My first stress test was marginal - but no-one told me that until about 12 months later. There is a form of silent angina that can strike at anytime. That would be main thing to be careful about.
However, I am not any sort of expert - some others here may give you more depth on this.
Cheers, Beefsteak.
Stress test is not a 100% accurate test. All tests can be miss interpreted and human error or wrong timing. My cardio told me the same things like your cardio told you. Seek a second opinion cardio. Your heart is in your hand! In case he is missed something......... Have you had an echo yet?

I'd believe the cardiologist and the stress test.
Heart pain is rarely sharp, stabbing, and short lasting. It is more achey and it doesn't go away in 2 seconds.

Sometimes there are idiopathic (cause unknown) pains to the heart with a spasm of he coronary artery that are temporary and random. The involuntary contraction of the vessel can cause a sharp pain.
The spasm would not be a condition that is heart related and not a cause for much concern.

Is the echocardiogram a better test than the stress test then?
And also a little less expensive? Our insurance has changed recently, and we can only have a stress test once a year, but $2000 and it's not that accurate? I'd be interested in substitute tests. I'm new to this, just recently shoveled some snow, at 71, advanced diabetes, lots of eye surgeries. All of which I temporarily forgot.
About the stitch in the side, have you been doing anything to have pulled a muscle? Do you have indigestion, burping, with spasms that feel like heart beats? They heal in about three weeks if you don't reinjure. Don't lift things or do stairs. My worst spasms stopped right on the button, but there's also discomfort in the middle of my chest.
I know nothing, so be sure to check everything out, and also your magnesium, potassium, and some other kind of levels according to someone in another thread. Your doctor will know what to test for. Keep us posted, please, what you find out and how you're doing.
Like our leg cramps, it can cramp in the heart muscle too. My cardio told me that it can be.... How sore it is? I just wonder when the heart muscle cramps, would the heart still pumping or it all tight?

Don't know, Pike. I haven't even started testing yet, want to know what tests there are, and if any of them would substitute for the stress test, which can be either treadmill or chemical, and I don't know if the chemical might damage or discolor my acrylic eye lens implants. Also I'm checking what all I'm covered for by insurance.
You mentioned leg cramps, which I get too, when potassium is low. So you probably mean potassium. I'm not sure what magnesium does, and I forget the other one that someone mentioned in another thread.
