This is Mrs. Owens,my husband and I just wrote together but I have some things to say on my own.Since I was about fifteen,I have had alot of problems with my bones which would lead to surgeries.I keep gettin kidney stones and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia which is unbearable pain.Doctors tried non narcotic meds and it didn't help.I didn't get addicted until about 2 years ago.I have mood swings when I don't have them,my husband and I fight.I am just ready to not feel like I need them anymore. My family is my everything but when I am withdrawling I feel like I mentally can't take it anymore.Does anyone have any suggestions or home remedies to help withdrawls?I also don't know what to do because I don't just do it for the high,I really have sever pain.I have had two back to back knee surgeries. Most recent 3 weeks ago,re-constructive surgery.I am scared to tell my doctors. The doctors here aren't good or sympathetic.I wanna feel like i did before this addiction started.I feel like a loser, a bad mom,a failure, just worthless.I am ready to take control of my life and quit lettin this drug run it.I really need some advice. Please let me know if anyone is goin through the same thing.I feel really alone. Please help me.

I'm so sorry to here your situation. Since your both addicted, and you need something for pain, what about asking your doc. about a pain pump? [the pump is surg.planted] this way,you go to your doc. once a month to get it filled, and it gives you a set dose at a set time. This way, you,or your husband can't take your med. and hey,out of site, out of mind.Plus, you need to treat your pain.

you really need to have a good chat with your doctor or maybe a cousellor of sorts to look at this and get to the bottom of this behaviour and guilt etc.
I wish you the best in the meantime

the first thing you really need to do is find out for sure whther this is actually an addiction or a dependancy.there IS a huge difference.do some research on the both of those subjects and really analyze what your feelings are about your behavior and the overall way you feel towards the drug and what you are actually using it for.the WDs don't mean you are actually addicted to the lortabs exactly, you would have WDs whether you are dependant or addicted.addiction is actually more a set of behaviors.if this is more of a dependancy than addiction, all you may need from your doc is a good taper plan.if this is truely an addiction, well there are other options and tools you can try to use in order to really treat your pain without the use of narcitics or using another type of delivery system such as hatter mentioned above with the pump.the thing is there ARE options to try and control pain other than just narcotics.this would all depend basically on how really severe your pain actually is and whther or not this is just normal dependancy or a real true addiction.like i said, there is a huge difference between the two.
try doing some serches on this addiction site regarding dependancy vs addiction,i know for sure there are some specific threads here on that particular subject.you just really DO need to know which side of that fence you fall on here before doing anything.
believe me, just having WDs from any drug, narcotic or not, really only tells you that your body and brain are used to having it in your system, thats all.addiction and dependancy would both do that same thing.this is why people will assume that they have an addiction problem when they are actually just dependant on the drug because the body is just used to having it there.this can happen with many many different types of meds, trust me,not just narcotics.if i stopped my anti depressant suddenly after being on this med now for over three years,i would go into WDs,just because my brain is used to having it.you know what i mean?this is why you have to find out where you are really at here.only you really know which is which.i do wish you luck with this and hopefully you have just grown a slow dependance with the lortabs over the long time you were on it and nothing more.just doing a bit of research will give you that answer.please keep us posted on how things are going,K?Marcia

Thank you. That makes me feel a little bit better knowing it may not be an addiction.I have been beating myself up and feelin like a loser.I would look at my kids sleeping and cry, knowing they deserve better than this.I will definitely do some research on it.Thank you again so much.It really helps to have people to talk to.I don't feel so alone now.I will definitely keep in touch.

glad we could make you feel a bit better about things.we are always here just for that and other purposes.
regarding the addiction vs dependance thing?this IS something the you really DO need to follow up on and define for yourselves.you just really need to see for sure where you land here.there is also something called psuedo addiction where the person will show all of the behaviors of an active addict, but what it is is the goal here that they are trying to acheive,is it for a high,or is it because your pain is not being well managed.that is how you kind of know that difference too.when peoples very real pain is not being controlled properly, they will exhuibit the very same types of behaviors as someone who is looking for that next high, but all the psuedo is doing is trying to find relief.
just try not to sit and beat yourselves up over this.if you really DO feel that you are addicted and not the others, well there ARE steps you can take to help with that, thats the good news.the bad news is that you obviously still have pain that needs to be managed, and for that you may need to seek out a good pain management doc.I honestly do not know where i would be right now without the expertise of my pain doc.they can offer sooo many different modalities to try and control even some of the worst of the worst types of pain.this is just all they do.i personally feel, just because i know how horrid of an addictioncan develop with any hydro products like lortabs,is to get the heck off of these meds or anything like them and onto another type of pain med or some other types of meds to try and control tyour pain.hydro is really really,in my opinion(and the DEA's now as they are actually finally contemplating making hydro a class II narcotic so it would be treated just like percocet or oxy)the addiciton potential for hydro is just sooo very much higher given the very unique type of feeling a person gets with this drug that i have never found with any other type of narcotic.its just sneaky and nails you before you know it.just be thankful and also proud of yourselves for recognizing this as a potential problem for you and taking action, thats the key here really, you are actively doing something.
now it is up to you to try and determine just where you are at and perhaps have a chat with your doc about this too.only you know how you are and how you feel about what you are and are not.i wish you both lots of luck with all of this, but always remeber those children in the other room who need you two,K?Marcia
