Hello all, I just found this board and I have questions. First of all, i'm 25 yrs. old, active duty AF.
For some time now (about 3 yrs) I have had blood in my stool, pain when going to the restroom, and very thin stools. I am now having constant gas, feeling full in the gut (down there) all of the time, and now i'm starting to get nausiated alot. My wife begged me to go see the doc sooner, and I wish I had, but I was scared. I knew what they would do if I went, and i wasn't concerned with cancer.
However, I went to the doc and he examined me and seemed really concerned. He said there was a lot of bleeding and he referred me to a gastroentrologist (is that right?) for a colonoscopy. He wouldn't exactly tell me why other than "to make sure". He said my issues were internal.
So now i'm thinking it could possibly be cancer? But i'm only 25. Maybe he felt something he didn't like? I'm just nervous I guess. I can't wait until I get that appointment to go get the scope. then i'll know

I'm so glad you're getting it checked out. Age is not always an guarantee but if there is a problem you should have an easier time recovering than an older person. There are so many other problems that can cause your symptons but the sooner you find out the better. Good luck and please keep us posted!

Hi there, I too have very similar symptoms as you. I also get upset stomachs every morning now and sometimes during the day. I usually don't have a weak stomach. My bleeding has been happening for 1 year. Also, the gas has gotten worse and I tried changing the foods I eat and did not think it was connected to the bleeding etc.
I thought it was just hemorrhoids so I finally went to the Dr. a week ago. He said it could be a number of things such as precancerous polyps, internal or external hemorrhoids or even colon cancer. My mother was just treated for colon cancer in January. That is what prompted me to go to the Dr. If she had not had that I am not sure if I would have gone.
I have my Colonoscopy next Tuesday 3/13 and I will be so relieved when it is over. over the last year I kept putting off seeing a Dr because I was embarrassed I might have hemorrhoids. I never thought it could be something worse.
I am very worried like you that it could be colon cancer but I am trying to stay positive. Just imagine if I had waited until I was 40 for my colonoscopy like recommended by then any cancer I have would be much further along than now. (I am 31 years old now)
Good Luck!

Bumpkin1, I just wanted to say I'm thinking of you and hope you are okay. I was 27 when I was diagnosed (I had been bleeding for several years, and had gone to two doctors who both diagnosed it as internal hemmroids, due to my being "young and healthy"). I finally decided that it wasn't going away and saw a gastroentologist. It turned out I had a tumor in my rectum. If I had been advised to go to a specialist earlier, it is quite likely I could have caught this at an earlier stage- or even as a polyp! So, kudos to your doctor, and good luck to you. I hope everything is clear! (and fyi, I went through treatment and have been cancer-free for a little over a year now!)

God bless you! I'm glad you beat it! What stage were you in?

Like you, my husband is active duty military. He is only 28 years old. His symptoms are very similar to what you described. (and like you he didnt go for a while because he was scared). He was diagnosed with colon cancer on February 8. He has had surgery and will be staring Chemo soon. He is stage 3...BUT his outlook is good.
It is good they are sending you for a colonoscopy. It is very possible that you do not have cancer but if you do, you need to start beating it as soon as possible.

Thanks! They initially thought I was stage III with possible lymph node involvement. I went through fairly agressive treatment- 24 hour chemo infusion during 30 radiation treatments, and erbitux (oh, the rash... I'm so glad I'm done with the erbitux!)- and by the time I had my surgery, it was only stage I! I went through some mild chemo afterwards (xeloda- pill chemo!) which I tolerated very well (much better than the pre-surgery chemo), and here I am.
Good luck. When do you have a colonoscopy scheduled for?

This Tues. 27th. I'm ready and anxious. This pain is becoming too much to bare. Whatever's going on has got to end!
