Hello,

I recently started reading a book about HGH and its supposed fountain of youth qualities. Having low T I am very interested in hormones and how they effect us as we get older... Anyway my question is this... I looked up the American Academy of Anti Aging ( books author ) website and they have a list of Doctors who specilize in this field. They have one very close to me but when I looked him up outside that directory, he is listed as a GP not an Endocronologist...... Any thoughts on whether I should waste my time seeing this guy??? My biggest question to him or my Endo is this; there are many supplements that supposedly help increase your bodies own production of HGH, but since I have a pitutary tumor that secrets prolactin and take bromocriptin(parlodel) to suppress is there any contradictions between the presciption drug and the supplements.......

thx...

Most anti-aging doctors are going to be up on the latest in hypogonadism (low t) treatment. As for the particular doctor close to you I can not say if he is any good of course. But just because he is a GP means nothing. My doctor who is one of the world's leading experts in this field and speaks at many of the anti-aging conferences is a GP also.

As for your question to this doc its not likely he will know the answer. Its not likely any studies have been done to see if the supplements would interfere with the Rx you take for the prolactin. But I really don't know for sure and he may have other suggestions for your particular situation. In general I'm not real fond of taking HGH. There have been some concerns it may increase risk of cancer in the past and I think many doctors who push it tend to be in it for the money since it is very pricey but thats just my take on it.

Endos have one more 3 hour class in hormones than a GP.

HGH injections!!! No I could never afford that!!! :) ... I was thinking about supplements that boost your natural GH production.... You know the way Tribulus is supposed to naturally boost T production by reportedly increasing natural LH production... My fear is that anything that stimulates the pituatary to produce one thing may very well produce another...like prolactin... There are supplements called secratogogues I believe...they are supposed to promote GH production.....

thx.

Be careful of some of these anti aging doctors. Many are ripoffs. I have been looking for one in the Chicago area and the two I found are ripoffs. As they say call for info, both offices had women putting a little sales pressure to charge 500 plus dollars on my credit card for the visit. I called an anti aging clinic. Same thing but they wouldn't give me any info on treatments unless I pay $250 dollars up front.. If you find one let me know. I'm even willing to fly out to see him.

What are you going for? If its hypogonadism you might want to try Dr John Crisler in Lancing Michigan. The $500 for the initial visit is not really as much of a ripoff as you may think. I see Dr. Eugene Shippen in Shillington PA. He charged along those lines but spent 1 1/2 hours with me on the first visit. I would have easily spent that much trying doc after doc to find one that knew what they were doing for hypogonadism not to mention all the time wasted.

How long ago was that? I figured he wasn't taking new patients, and didn't call until this week. Long story short, I'll be driving to PA in late May. Hope its not too late for my testicles to be resurrected.

I know we all say it, Hayfarmer, but thanks for all you do here.

I saw him a little more than a year ago. Glad to hear you got in and that he is taking patients again. You will have lots of time to talk to the doctor so make sure you prepare any questions you have and take a list with you. More will come up as you talk with him too.
