View Full Version : Can someone explain these IVP results to me?

I got my IVP xrays back today, with the report (comparing my previous IVP test a year ago):

The part I dont understand:

There is moderate dilatation of the right renal calyces, considerably more dilated when compared to an IVP from 8/8/05.

The right renal pelvis is not demonstrated through 15 minutes time.

The urinary bladder appears to be grossly unremarkable.

There is no significant post void bladder residual present.

Then they called me to come back for another picture, and wrote this after that picture:

The KUB does demonstrated opacification of the entire right pelvocalyceal system. The degree of dilatation of the pelvocalyceal system apears to be less marked when compared with the films from earlier on the same day, and similar in degree when compared to the IVP films from 8/8/05.

Help?

Hi!

I have an apointment on monday, so I guess we'll see what he says. He said he may take out the stent depending on how the IVP test looks. I've been on an antibiotic since the surgery, but I've been lacking taking it for a couple days- so I may have an infection, I'm not sure. The stent has been bothering me lately tho, so who knows what the problem is. Ugh.

Thanks for looking at your notes, I appriecate it. When do you go back to the doctor?

HI! You can call me lisa. :)

I'm offf to my appointment in about an hour. I'm having flank pain sometimes, I dont know what it is, but if I get bad news I think I'll have a nervous breakdown! I'm too young for this!

I'll report in, right after! Thanks!

Hi, I just got back!

He looked at the xrays, and the reason I had to go back to finished the ivp test to get another (after an hr) was because my kidney had a delay in emptying. He is unsure why, he looked pretty stunned after I told him that I was having pain again.

So thursday, I'm going to have an operation, where he takes a camera and looks to see if there is anything blocking or growing in the ureter (or around the stent) that would cause the delay, then if it looks fine he'll take out the stent. If it looks bad, he'll replace the stent and deal with whatever happens next, next.

UGH!

He didnt say what he thought it was, he just said it was a delayed emptying. If it was kinked would it of showed up on the xray?

Ugh, He looked like he felt sorry for me. Sadly, lol. All the nurses were like 'LISA! Another surrrgery?" I guess I'm well known there, lol. Sucks tho.

I'll be praying. ugh.

I honestly just cant believe I'm having another surgery, its not as major as the other, but still. Wow. This is my 5 or 6th operation in a 2 year time. Wow. Ugh. I'm not ready for this.

Well, yeah. People tell me everything is going to be fine, and I am just tired of hearing that, cause I know it's not okay, you know?

Well my side..flank, has idk how to describe it, the same way I felt before I had my last operation. But, it's not as serious as it was. It comes and go. It's the right side flank pain. I also have lower pain..in the front area, but thats from the stent. I guess after awhile you know what the problem is when you feel the pain, but this time..I dont know. I mean its the same pain, but less hurting or happens less than it did before the surgery. IDK. It is depressing. My doctor looked at me like he felt so bad for me. I think I'm his only patient who is 20 years old with this many problems.

I'm going to tell him, if the results are bad after the operation..tell my parents and dont tell me cause I dont think I'd be able to handle it at the moment. I'd probably burst out and cry.

How are you feeling? What pain do you feel? When are you calling the doctor?

Nope. Just me.

Was you problem that the ureter was blocked or was it the kidney not working? If my doctor tells me there is nothing wrong...and I'm still having pain after, I'm going to go look for a second opinion. You should call your doctor! Putting it off just makes it worse, you know! Ugh, hang in there!

Hi.

Well. They kept me overnight. It ended up being calcium build up around the stent and stones. He is unsure what caused it, so he's sending it out to get tested. But apparently it was really bad. He put a new bigger stent in to keep the tube open, for now and I have to go see him in two weeks, to get the results and to figure out what we will be doing next. Ugh. So he kept me overnight with a cathader and took it out before I got him. This stent must be MUCH bigger because I feel it on my side.

I'm wondering why I have calcium build-up, I've never had that happen with all the stents I've had, and I'm wondering if it's because the big surgery I had where he had to move my kidney around. I'm unsure. But I know I'll be needing more operations. He may send me to someone else in NYC to see what they say, but he's not sure yet.

UGH.

Hi!

I'm feeling better today, feverwise. I have a burning pain and feel like I have to push something out, when I pee. It's terrible, and I still have the flank pain, but not blood in the urine. But no fever today yet, so that's good! Still weak though. But I'm dealing.

How are you doing? When will you call the doctor?

Hope all is good.

Thanks for the support.
