A couple of months ago I started waking up with my hands asleep and my doctor told me it was probably early symptoms of CTS and that I should get wrist braces/splints. So I now wear them when I sleep but I am still awakend at night with my hands asleep.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any other ideas what could be causing this?

Sounds like CT to me. I had the same problem and the braces did nothing to help it. I would wear them at night and most of the day and my hands would still fall asleep. My doctor tried me on two different anti-inflamatory medicines which didn't help either. I had a nerve conduction test done that showed moderate CT in my left hand and mild in my right. Eventually I saw a surgeon who said that the only other option was surgery. I had surgery on my left hand on 2/16 and am scheduled for surgery on my right hand for tomorrow. So I would say it's possible that you do have CTS but the braces don't work for everyone. The surgery worked great on my left hand though. No more falling asleep or pain. Hope you find a solution soon.

Hey there. I had CTS pretty badly (a drag for a professional writer.) I went to a physical therapist who did a treatment therapy called ASTYM. It involved about 9 visits, stretching and specific strengthening excercises and I don't have CTS anymore. I have to really stay on top of my stretching though!
Good luck.
