coming off eveything at the same time is going to cause a whole bunch of unpredictable and predicatable issues. I guess you can figue some of them out, but I wouldn't sit there counting how many blocking are going to fall on your head; one will hurt enough and so don't bother with scaring yourself anymore. Be brave, don't think and go forward into being clean and then recovery; notice it's a two part process.

I wish you much stregth and many good friends, especially new healthy ones along the way.

Love Blaster.

Hi Who

Sorry to hear of your mental pain and freezing! WHen I first stated to withdraw, I was so darn cold, I couldn't seem to get warm. I would take a hot bath and dive under the covers.. lots of covers!... and still be shaking cold. Also cried all the time. ALL the time.

Who, I am really concerned about you coming off all these meds before you are in a medically safe place. The benzo is what particularly worries me. Abrupt stoppage of benzos can lead to serious seizures. I can't emphasize enough the danger I feel you are putting yourself into.

It seems that you are really determined to get off these things and I admire your determination. However, I sense an impulse in you that is more a reactive move and not a well-thought out move.

My suggestion is that you keep repeatedly calling that detox center. Also, I think you need to talk them pronto about what you are currntly doing. Especially concerning the benzo. I have a feeling they might recommend that you wait until a bed is available for you. And if they do suggest you wait, this would by no means cheapen your efforts or in anyway make you a "failure." Just thinking that there is some "jumping of the gun" going on for you. Smiles.

Please make a call and ask for their advice about what to do. They are in the business of dealing with this and have experience.

Best, best wishes

Yes....your going to be FREEZING!! I'm in Connecticut-45miles north of N.Y.C. and YES!! its cold anyway-never mind opiate w/d's! We're supposed to get up to 50 over the weekend-something to look forward to!
You will be depressed for awhile:confused: Reach helped me through that! You have to remember that it's the lack of the drugs in your system that are making you feel so unhappy-about anything and everything! 3 weeks ago I was crying over my parents divorce that happened 30 years ago! It's 2 steps forward then 1 step back! There are bad days now and good days. It's a long and frustrating process-but it will get better-I PROMISE!
Please follow through-as reach said- with the hospital because of the benzo addiction. I've never abused them (although I won't rule anything out at this point) but have heard it's more dangerous than coming off narcotics.
Your mind is used to the drugs doing all the work to make the "happy feelings" and it needs to wake up and get to work again! It's taking a vacation and needs to get back on track.
Some day's I feel very good and think "WOW, this wasn't so bad" but then the depression hits out of nowhere and I hate myself! I think that if I didn,t have those periods of depression I would be in a dangerous situation-I would think -it's o.k. for my to take these.......
It really helps me to look at it that way because with out that little reminder of how horrable the depression is- I may be right back to the MADNESS!
So, anyway that's my body's way of reminding me "see you can't go back"!
Sorry for rambling on. This is the "normal Dee" - never keeps her mouth SHUT!
It sure beats the drug seeking/lying Dee! Right?
Dee

thanks for the replies because i always feel like im the only one who feels like this . it feels good to read these because you understand what im talking about. other people i have talked to dont understand because they never been thru it.
this is what gets me upset.
when i called detox i said i was very depressed and crying all the time . over NOTHING. she said you just might be depressed and it might not have anything to do with withdrawals:mad: i believed her. but reading your post i now know its part of withdrawls.
excuse my spelling. i can usually spell but my brain is on stand by right now:rolleyes:

Hey Whoeva?

I really hate being pushy, but did you TELL them that you have abruptly stopped the benzos???? If so, did they make any suggestions concerning that?

If you don't want to call them back in particular, can you at least call a hot line or a doctor's office and let them know??

Worrying about you

PS... I think many of us totally have been in sync with people, even professionals, not really understanding all the issues when coming off drugs. I have finally learned to just accept it. They do not have the frame of reference we do, that's all. So, yes, this is a great place to find others who have experienced it.

Hey

Glad you are pursuing those phone calls. I will be waiting to read about the outcome.

Hey Flushed? What they told you from the detox center about going to ER? Even though I know they may very well not understand all the issues about withdrawal, what they told you was practical advice. They have to be aware that a severe state of depression, and the sudden withdrawal from the benzo, can both have severe repercussions.

When I was in unbearable depression and called all around desperately to get in to see a psychiatrist, I kept hitting two to three month waiting lists and each time was advised to go to the ER. Luckily, after hours and hours of calling, I got a psychiatrist who would see me in four days and I was able to wait out the time. He hasn't turned out to be the best, but I will now get on one of those darn waiting lists of one of the psychiatrists I prefer to see.

One thing I was also told was that if you go into ER because of severe depression, they are obligated to get you psychiatric help. Haven't experieneced this as I did not go, but this is what some doctors' offices told me.

Hang in... And practice DEEP BREATHING

Hi Who

I don't know about Klonopin's 1/2 life and so I could not answer that. However, it seems like the information is reasonable.

Friend, I really admire the determination, but truly cannot understand risking the posssibility of seizures. Are you aware a seizure can kill you? Please, go do some research on seizures. I just don't think you really understand how serious a seizure, or a series of them can be. Please.

Do you have a doctor or a clinic available to you? As you read th posts here, you will see that no one can do this alone. Not only for safety reasons, but because we need a lot of support in many ways.

Whoeva... this is only Day One... it is going to get a LOT worse in the next 2-3 days, a LOT. My experience tells me that you have found but the tip of the iceberg today. Only the very tip.

I think you are walking on ice thinner than you understand.

With concern

I hope this works out for you successfully.

I have a question?

My Dr. was very quick to prescribe me klonopin for over all nerve pain due to damaged nerves from surgery.

I don't take it all the time, But i do notice i take it when i feel all over pain probably first before I try to take anything else.

I was not aware of the highly addictive nature of this drug and now reading this it does concern me a bit that maybe I should try other medication first for the daily intestinal pain.

Klonopin works well for me when the pain is all over and not just in one spot.

how quickly can one get addicted to this drug?

I do notice lately I feel soo tired the next day like I could sleep at least until noon if not much later(work just does not allow that) and sometimes I just can't seem to wake up clearly from it. Although it is one of only 2 things I can take for this pain that allows me to drive and that is only if I take a half klonopin(1mg).

Clonazepam,klonopin....whatever.....take s ONLY 2 TO 4 WEEKS BEFORE YOUR ADDICTED TO IT!!!! If you go cold turkey you can have a SEZUIRE!!!!! You have to do a SLOW taper to get off of it......If your feeling numness or burning down your spine, you are very close to having a seizure that you can DIE from....
