We went to see my FIL, age 85, yesterday and I was struck by how well he looks physically. His color is good and he even seems to be gaining a little weight.
Mentally, he is deteriorating fast. He can barely talk and does not respond to us at all, only stares with no expression.
From everything I read it seems that he should be getting weaker physically and it seemed he was declining a few months ago. Some of his anti-depressants have been reduced in the last month. Could that be it? He does use a walker and it is his favorite plaything. Yesterday, he was ramming it against the chair I was sitting in and I was surprised at the strength in his arms.
