Hello all,
My Father who is 71 banged is leg last Dec. and his whole leg turned black and blue. Since then he has been in lots of pain and been seeing a doctor that tells him it will get better.... fast foward to last week, he went for a walk and his ankles and butt swelled up, more pain and finally my mother brought him to ER. The drama started when they drew blood from his arm. It swelled up like a balloon. Rushed him the the hospital where they made 4 incisions to relieve the pressure.
Since last Friday the blood will not coagulate in his arm and he has been hooked up to IV and has consumed 25+ units of blood. The doctors have ruled out a few things but still can't figure out why the bleeding will not stop. They gave him some blood clotting meds but so far notheing. He is in Florida and I am in Cal. but will be seeing him next week. I have played internet Dr. and come to a conclusion that he has Hemoglobin A. I am real worried they may not be able to stop the bleeding. He is in stable condition in an IC room.
Also he has been on cholesterol and hormone medication + some other meds that I don't know about, maybe blood thinning meds? I believe this might be a backlash from all the different types of medications he has been taking over the years? I don't really know.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
Ken
