Is there a type of diet for people with bladder infections and kidney stones? I was told to drink lots of water, and avoid soft drinks. I was told by a friend to avoid seeds, hard grains and tea. My dr. said to drink lots of water. Does anyone have info on this?
Thanks,
Trish

Trish, It is VERY important to know what kind of stones you tend to make. Stones can be calcium oxalate requiring ONE kind of diet or uric acid and urate based requiring a very different diet.
What kind of stone is determined by the doctor/lab if you catch one after it passes.
Both types are less likely to form if you have a high water intake.

Be careful of protein which is SO hard in today's Atkins crazed world. You should do no more then 6 ounces a day.
Also you should drink at least 2 lites of WATER a day with citrus added (lime or lemon) plus whatever you drink at meals.
The last poster was right the type of stones determines what other dietra restrictions play a role. Sometimes antioxidants contribute to certain stones. Calcium avoidance is actually a myth, calcium will actually help.
And lastly no malts or alcohol! (Sorry)
Good luck - it is frustrating to say the very least!!
