Hello. I am an ex professional fighter who in September herniated a disc in c6/67 while training. In November I had Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion to repair the damage and cure the pain. A pain management put me on Lortab 10's for starters. Well, now it is March and I pop 3 Roxicodone 30's 4 times day. That is 360 mg's of Oxycodone a day. I still have pain after my surgery which is why I take the meds but I don't understand why my body needs such a high dose and I am afraid of addiction. I stopped cold turkey a couple of weeks ago just to "test myself" and went a week without taking anything. I felt like I had the flue for about 3 days then I felt 100% better. I felt like I won a fight or something and rewarded myself with 90 mg of Roxicodone and oh what a nice feeling. Am I addicted? I really like the drug but feel like if I really wanted to I could stop. Are there others out there that are taking large dosages like myself? I remember when I first started the pain meds that a 5 mg Lortab was great...why did it take me such a short time to develop such a high tolerance? I'm just really worried about being addicted. Anybody out there have any advice or can share with me? Thanks.
