A little background....On january 25, 2007 I began taking Necon 1/35 for an upcomming surgery as DR didnt want me to "cycle" As per DR rx, 2 on 1st day, 2 on 2nd day, and then 1 everyday there after. to get caught up as I was on cycle day 5 the day it was givin to me. Also to skip placebo week, go directly into new pack and to stop pill all together day before surgery. which was Feb.20, 2007. With me doing this my BB's seemd to engorge and were extremly tender, I gained 9 lbs! anyways I wasnt sapposed to begin AF till the 13 of FEB as per a websight I have been useing faithfully for 2 years. Well I began spotting (not much) on the 10th of FEB that lasted all the way to day of surgery.(The 15th I did bleed more then just spot) then I bled pretty good that morning(the 21st), after surgery I continued to spot for 2 days then nothing. I also should let you know that my surgery was a tubal reversal. Most women seem to resume their original cycle after this surgery. Which leads me to believe it is a BCP issue. So with these dates given my "normal" cycle should have started on the 9th of March. I guess my question is- would taking BCP for 1 month as I did throw me off? even with the breakthough bleeding I had? Also is it true that 1 month on BCP you are still "fertile"? which not in my case as I was still fixed. but still able to ovulate. So I had surgery on the 21st Feb and ovulation predicted to occur on the 4th of March, took the BCP from Jan25th to Feb 20 is it possible for me to have ovulated on or around the 4th? Or does the BCP knock it out all together? Another thing, I did not take the BCP at the same time everyday. sometimes I did and sometimes I forgot, but the span was about 4-5 hours.....Sorry if this is so long, I was just reading though this board and couldnt find anything close to my dilema. closest was after taking BCP for years and stopping. So hopefully someone can chime in and help me figure this out.
thanks :)

Even taking BCPs for a month can cause some women to have wacky cycles right off the pill. You didn't have a period on the pill, what happened was breakthrough bleeding, that is the most common side effect of being on the pill. It can be triggered by skipping pills, taking antibiotics, diarrhea or throwing up or can also just happen randomly on the pill for no reason (some women have more breakthrough bleeding their first few months on the pill as the body adjusts). You don't ovulate on the pill (generally, rarely it happens) so the "period" women get during the placebo pills is not a true period in that sense, it is a withdrawal bleed caused by taking the hormones away from the body.

After you quit the pill--I'm assuming you've stopped it now--you will have a withdrawal bleed or spotting 3-6 days after stopping the pill if you stop mid-pack (you have the withdrawal bleed if you stop at the end of the pack too but this is what is considered the period while on the pill). You count day 1 of the withdrawal bleed as cycle day 1. If you go back to regular cycles right away, you should ovulate on cycle day 14 and have your real period on cycle day 28. But the pill can throw off your cycles, even if you take it just a month, so don't be surprised if your next period is late when stopping the pill.

If you haven't stopped the pill, you will get your "period" during the week of placebo pills though you can experience breakthrough bleeding at any time.

I hope this helps!

Yes, I am no longer taking BCP and I havent since Feb 20th. So it is safe to assume that AF should begin on or around the 17th of march give or take a few days? My cycles have a median of 25.3 days.....
Thanks for the answers :)
