 Hello. I have a lump on the top of my head. It moves, is firm to the touch, not hard like a bone. When I was a child I can remember a time when it was appx the size of a small pea. Now the circumference is a bit smaller than a quarter, and it is raised about 3/8's, maybe 1/2 an inch. I have always known it was there, but now since losing my hair to chemotherapy I can really "see" it. Does anyone else have this or know what it is? Thanks...Missprissed

It could be a fatty cyst or something like that. You said you are on chemo - have you asked your oncologist? Ask them to do a needle biopsy to make sure it isn't anything more sinister.

Sure sounds like a lipoma... just that little fatty cyst thing. if it is and it bothers you, it's easily removed.

I had two such cysts removed last week. It is the third time I have gone in to have some removed. I had one cyst removed twice as it grew back. The Dr. told me it is quite common for these to run in families, although I am the only one I know of that has had them. They can (and do) come back if they are not completely removed. All of mine have been on my head, but one was on my back, and that is the one that grew back.
