View Full Version : I have a question about SVT

A while back I was rushed to the hospital because I had a racing heart. When I got to the ER, the doctor told me that I probably have SVT. They didn't catch anything when I was there, because I had some what calmed down. Well my question is: What are the symptoms of SVT? I have had panic and anxiety for a long time, but I wake up in the middle of the night, and all of a sudden my heart accelerates extremely fast, and it beats really hard, and about 30 seconds to a minute later it calms down. I get a lot of skipped beats, and usually this turns into a racing heartbeat, and I always have to cough because I can feel the fluttering/skipping in my throat which I absoulutely hate. But recently when it wakes me up, I don't have the racing right away, it's like I can feel it coming on, like a nervous feeling. My palms get sweaty, I feel my heart starting to race, and it beats so fast that I think it's going to stop. It's horrilbe. I'am just having a hard time distinguishing the difference between whether I have just PVC's or it could possibly be SVT. The skipping has not been happening when I get these spells in the middle of the night. I just wake up and it starts to race. It has been happening a lot since I have been getting over an upper respiratory infection that I developed almost 3 weeks ago. I'am having a hard time breathing, I cough a little, and have a little bit of chest pain, although I'am pretty much over it.
I don't know if that has anything to do with it though. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

~NicoletteAshley
