Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let all those in UK know, that Stephen Fry's programme on BP is being reshown tonight and tomorrow night... BBC2, 23:30hrs....
I wasn't that taken with the first showing of it (from a BPar point of view) - but it can provide a useful insight for friends / family....

I'm a bit bitter about this show. I didn't watch it when it first aired in the fall. I moved to England in mid-September knowing that I was probably BPII. Now that I was finally settled somewhere for at least two years I thought I could finally seek help. Then we had that whole mental health awareness month where every celeb and their brother came out saying they were bipolar. I became paranoid believing that the doctors wouldn't believe me, that I was just being 'paranoid' abiut my illness, so I ignored it for a while longer. Geh, that screwed me over considering I then had a big episode in late Dec/Jan which is still going on
I will try to watch it this time around.

I watched it before. Thought it was too tame..........showed quick snatches of "real" bps in manic state........but not enough.........very boring documentary which is one thing bps are not, lol. Not sure I saw second part.............does it get any better??? As for helping friends and family, I think looking at that , as usual, they will be wondering what all the fuss is about. Personaly, I think stephen fry should have ceased the moment and jumped from a bridge or something, lol, you know, just to get the point across!! ie bps are STRUGGLING!!!!
Hi Sharonamy,
I agree with everything that you mentioned. I too thought it was far, far too tame - although my friends watched it and kept commenting afterwards that they really could see traits of me in what the programme had described.
BTW - the second half is no more interesting than the first part... yawn, yawn
Sorry, if my post seems pessimistic - on a big downer,
Nut.

i never watched this as i remember the 1st time i heard it was coming on and a load of celebs were like i have it i have it! then there was a debate over whether tablets are needed or whether we can live without them and the bit that annoyed me most was when the celebs started saying they enjoy having it as it makes them more talented in what they do!!!!!!! i hate having bp only im learning to live with it i would never say im happy with it and would never like to get rid of it! i dont plan on watching it but sounds like im not missing much and i dont like stephen fry at the best of times anyway!

Well I wasn't able to make it through the program - I guess it's a bit hard at the moment to keep my interest (along with the fact I'm extremely irritable)
I doubt I'll bother to tune in tonight. I'm hoping to be jumping into bed earlier ... have my pdoc appointment tomorrow which I'm a bit nervous about
