i've been taking birth control for a few months and i'm very consistent with taking it every day. my question is how effective is it supposed to be during unprotected sex? like if my boyfriend and i decided not to use a condom, which we usually use, would we still be okay if he climaxed? and by okay i mean, would the birth control be effective in preventing a pregnancy. it may seem a little odd for me to be asking questions about the effectiveness but ive seen that real life perspectives are often more valuable then what's written on the label.

to those who offer advice, thank you very much.

[Unrelated questions should be posted in separate posts on the most appropriate board. Birth control questions belong on the Birth Control board, so I am moving your thread, sexuality questions belong on the appropriate sexual health board. Please repost that part of your question in a new thread there. Thanks. ]

The best way to find out the effectiveness of the pill you're taking is to read the slip that comes with it. Everything is explained there. It is a lot of information but it's worth reading.
Most pills are 99.5% effective if taken correctly.
My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex every single time while I was still on the pill for two years (I just quit last week), and I did not get pregnant. I took the pill correctly and on time almost every single day. I will admit that probably 5-6 times I took it a couple of hours late... but I was still protected and never got pregnant.
So as long as it's the right pill for you and you're using it correctly you should be fine.
