i keep feeling these weird twinges in the back of my neck (at the base of my skull) and they are audible, kind of like a squishy noise. it almost feels like my spinal cord. it's not very painful, just an odd feeling. what could it be? (im a 23 year old female, if that's of any consequence.)

What are you doing when you feel this? Sounds like 2 surfaces rubbing together. Maybe just tendons, etc. But have it looked at by a physiotherapist or GP if you are worried. Your head hasn't unscrewed itself off yet, so hopefully it is minor.

it doesn't ever "usually" happen, it's fairly random. i could be sitting perfectly straight, not moving and i will feel it several times. im actually up right now because it's keeping me awake. it doesn't seem to be connected to any kind of movement... more seemingly; lack of movement.

So the feeling just happens..? Even if you are not moving at all?? That is very weird. It is not good that it keeps you awake. Do you know a good masseur or physiotherapist?
