View Full Version : Platelet count on the rise

My PCP has been watching my platelet count since last March when I presented with a "weird" nodule on my calf. As meds did not help, I was sent to a derm who biopsied. The biopsy was "inconclusive" and most likely represented an erythema nodosum. Since that time, my platelets have been elevated and have now reached just below 500,000. My eosinophils are also elevated at 9.0. I am being sent to the hematologist on Friday for my consult. I was quite surprised to see that this doc is also an oncologist. I have done so much searching on the web and found this site to be so helpful. Seeing others with the same issues. Does this platelet elevation "HAVE" to be caused by one of the many reasons I have read about here? I have been suffering from horrible periods, which I've blamed on possible premenopause.. night sweats, again premenopause, itching, and just being plain tired. but who isn't? I am 44 and taking meds for high bp, anxiety, and allergies. I'm scared and anxious but also trying to be positive.
thanks!
Renee
