Hello, I was wondering if anyone has any pointers for a clumsy adult like me, trying to learn how to ride a bicycle? The only bicycle I've ever ridden is a stationary bike. Now that I've figured out how to ride a scooter, open pickle jars, and developed a great bod; I'd really like to learn how to ride a real bicycle. Part of me says "Yes I can." and the other part of me says, "In your dreams, you old fool." Thank you.

Practice :) You're never too old to learn anything. If you don't have a bike, rent one. The way I learned was that it's easier to go down a slight hill without your feet on the ground than it is on a flat surface. Try to find an area where there is a small slope that ends in the ground being flat. This way, you can practice going down the slope with your feet off the ground (not necessarily on the pedals) and then turn quickly to begin going up the slope. It's easier to attempt to pedal when you have a bit of momentum and are going up a hill. Hopefully that made sense. Whatever your strategy is, if you keep at it you will be able to ride a bike in no time.

Hello, Cool. Then I'm doing the right thing. I finally got down the hill one time without teetoring or putting a foot on the ground, but I just didn't replicated it. I'm going to practice some more today. Does the weight of the bike have anything to do with balance? I've got a 24" Mountain Bike, because I am really short. Thanks.
