View Full Version : Chemo Side Effect Or Cold Virus?

Hi Everyone
Just a quick question here. Had my second round of chemo last thursday, and since Monday I've had running nose, stuffy nose, bloody nose. It sort of feels like a cold or allergies, but maybe it's just a side effect of the carboplatin/taxol chemo drugs???
Anyone else have nose/sinus issues with chemo?
If it's a cold, how concerned should I be? I have no fever.
Thanks!
Faith

Hi Faith,
Stan has problems with his sinus on and off. He thinks he is getting a cold and then it never turns into a cold and other times it has. We have read on his scans though that they make mention of something in his sinus area so his might be related to that...we just don't know. So...to anwer your question I think you will be able to tell in the next day or so. I do hope it is not a cold! Get some rest and hope to hear from you that it is just a runny nose and nothing more!
Hugs for you!
Kim

faith-im also taking the carboplatin right now and bloddy noses(not severe-just a little)seem to be side effect. i have never had one before the chemo and they did mention it at the first treatment. but most of the side effects i have not gotten this seems to be about the only one. good luck to you....melissa

hHi Kim. Hi Melissa!
Good to know there are side effects they didn't tell me about or I didn't hear!
Kim, I think it isn't a cold, but I gues it could be just a very light one. It's so nice of you to check in with all of us when you have so much to do. Hope Stan is doing better. Can't tell you how much I think of you and Stan.

Melissa, wow...good to hear from you. I was getting worried, as I haven't seen you lately. Hope the chemo stays relatively easy for you. How are you doing on the carbo chemo? Are you far into the treatment with it. I know you said earlier, but I can't remember. I believe they told me they can't do more than 6 treatments with this combo, due to the toxicity.
Wishing you both all good things.
Faith
