I have been having trouble lately with shortness of breath. It starts with a tickle in my chest and it ends up feeling like I lost my breath. I start hyperventilating. It seems to be triggered by strong smells (air freshener aisle at the store, lotions, etc.). Has anyone had these feelings?

They are not sure if it is asthma, allergies, or something related to the cold I had a few weeks ago. I have been put on Asmanex twice a day. I have not had as many episodes since starting this so I guess it is working. I have been getting headaches. Can anyone tell me more about this medicine? Does it cause weight gain like some of the others? Does it work well? Any problems?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I am new to this. I have bad allergies both elemental and food.
