i have tried lexapro and zoloft before and now my dr. has prescribed me Buspar to try. he said "it can cause seizures" and that scared me to death now i don't want to try it even though i have no history of seizures. i have MAJOR health anxiety and this made it worse. i may just start lexapro again because scared now. what is anyones experience with buspar?

I've taken Buspar along with an SSRI for about 7 months now, and I have had no side effects from it. It apparently helps boost the effects of the SSRI.
Only you can decide whether or not to take it, but I have read of many people taking Buspar, with no seizure side effects.
Take Care.

i have been on buspar for almost 3 years and i have had no problem with side effects. the only problem was that it stopped working after 2 years. my doc said that can happen on the lower dose so he upped it and it worked great. it started to work by the fourth day. i consider it a miracle. God bless

Wow, get a new doctor!!! What kind of doctor, who knows full well that his patient suffers from anxiety, would tell them that!?!?! Some of these doctors need to seriously learn when to shut the hell up. If that is true that it causes seizures, then what percentage of patients get them? If not that many, then why mention it? But if it's very common, then find a better way to tell your patients instead of scaring someone with anxiety half to death!
Seriously. It's called common sense. Apparently some doctors don't have any.

You should relax. Buspar is extremely mild and not dangerous. But your physician is in the business of giving you ALL the information, not sugar coating it or telling you what he thinks you should hear. Hey! That's being treated like a child. You are an adult. Having all the facts before making a decision is common sense.
I have taken Wellbutrin at the highest dose for years - and yes, they are required to tell you that it CAN cause seizures - but it hasn't and it won't. It has a much higher incidence of problems - But I think it's like a bee sting - some are allergic, some not - and it's good to know if you are... but most likely, you are not.
You are more seized with worry than anything Buspar will do to you. Take heart, you may feel better than you have in years!!
