Hi Everyone,

It's difficult to speak to the family about my concerns and my worries, I went for my regular check-up and went for an x-ray due to my smoking...even though I don't smoke much, but I still smoke and been smoking on and off for about 18 years. well I got a call on Monday that they had found a mass on the upper right lung and sent me back to get another x-ray to confirm the mass. I still have not received a call from the second x-ray...I think what worries me the most is the unknown, with all the sad realities I have been reading on this site I have found some comfort by knowing that I"m NOt alone!

Thanks for reading, my prayers and blessings are with all!

Mari

Mari,

You will be in my thougths and prayers. I'm sorry that you are feeling so alone. I hope you get some answers real soon - I understand how difficult it is to wait to hear something. sometimes the worse part is the waiting because then your imagination runs wild and gets the best of you. One thing I'd like to advise you is to be sure to get copies of all your x-ray reports and blood tests etc. and to ask lots and lots of questions.

Take Care!

Mari, the waiting is the worst thing in the world. It sometimes seems that this whole journey is about doing something and ....THEN....waiting. It does not get easier. That was always one of our pet peeves and Bud especially, was a very impatient man. Let's hope that your second xray is inconclusive and then when they do a third, you are back in the no worry zone. I have known people that smoked all their lives and never got cancer, and then again, people that NEVER smoked and got lung cancer. Don't beat yourself up. You cannot change the past and all you can do is address the present and hope for the future. If you are trying to stop smoking, there are many plans out there that you can try that will assist you. The point here is, if you WANT to stop. I know many many people that witnessed my husband's journey through me and still smoke. People will do what the have to or want to do. The power to change is in all of us. I decided just about a month or so ago that given an option, I would have like to join Bud in the meadows of Heaven. However, my journey is not complete and now I have made up my mind that I will make it and survive and become a stronger person and keep the faith-flame burning bright that one day I will see this wonderful man again. People still smoke, all of his kids do, his two brothers and sister do.

Do your best and KNOW that is all you can do. One day at a time. Keep your chin up and keep in contact with HB as there are many here that are more than happy to be of strength to you.

love from So. Indiana,
Jan

Hi Everyone,

I want to thank you all for the support! Yesturday I got news about my second x-ray and the Doc says that the mass is abnormal and oval shape and they want to do a CT Scan with Contrast. The doctor said that they want to see if it's Cancer, but I thought they have to do a Biopsy (not sure I spelled it right) to see if it's acually CANCER. Anyway my Ct Scan is Tuesday...personally I think they are trying to get size and see if it's spreed in other places!!!

But It's a matter of waiting like you said...I'm trying to be patient.

Well, I'll let you all know what happens after this other test and thank you all for being there for me I truely appreciate it.

My prayers are with you.

Mari

Hi
I believe they can tell from a scan that it is cancer, but they need to do the biopsy to determine what type of cancer. Yes, the scans can determine the size and location, unlike an x-ray. Hopefully you will get some good news and won't have to worry about cancer!

Hi Mari,

Sorry to hear the results of your x-ray, such a worrying time for you and perhaps you feel al little numb too. I would just like to wish you good luck with the CT scan tomorrow Tuesday and hope that your questions are answered for you. Usually the medics can tell from a CT scan if an abnormality is cancer or not. Then they do a biopsy as a final conformation and to find out what sort of cancer it is. (I am not a medical expert just going on my experience) This is a wonderful place to come and express whatever you are feeling or ask questions, so many kind people here, so do come back and let us know your results.

You are included in my prayers Mari.

God bless you

About two years ago I went for a chest xray because I smoke, My Dr. called and said they found a nodule on my left lung. She said don"t get excited until we do the c-scan.I was nervous wreck, I had the c-scan done 3 days later without contrast as I am allergic to shell fish. My Dr. called me and said the scan was fine. What they saw on the xray was something where the blood vessels meets, mine are a little higher up than normal and at the same spot in my back I have a bone spur.

Hope things work the same for you. I know what a anxious mess you are because I know how I was.

Good luck and God bless, Linda

Hi Everyone,

I'm so scared...I found out today that I need to get a biopsy with the needle into the chest. I have'nt been told anything yet except that they need more testing. I spoke to my Doc and said I have questions and would like some answers...I'm suppose to the Dr. before the biopsy. Hope to get some answers.

Thanks for your prayers and will be back to let you know what happens next?

My prayers are with you,

Mari

Hi Mari

So sorry that you have not yet got a result - when do you go for your biopsy? Perhaps they could not tell from the CT what your abnormality is, so they need to the biopsy before saying anything to you. That does happen, it happened to me, there was still a possibility that it was not cancer and it was not until after the biopsy that I got my diagnosis. I pray that yours will be something benign.

God bless you and keep you strong,

Cee

Hi Susie,

Just want to thank you for the reply and for given your support...which I really need...I can't really talk to my husband cause he is hurting just to think it might be CANCER. Even though I'm NOT afraid of having CANCER, but I do want to live...who doesn't. well anyway I'll post my results after I find out!

Again thanks and God Bless,

Mari
