hi everybody,

I am 20 years told, in great shape. I have this little thing going on with my heart. I got an echo, and I have a tiny mitral insufficiency -- not enough to call it a mitral valve prolapse, though. They said i'm perfectly fine, and i dont need to take antibiotics for dental work. good news, right? well anyway, I don't seem to do well on birth control pills. Yasmin, I tried for one week and had chest pains, anxiety, etc. the doctors told me to quit that. I went on ortho tri cyclen, and that was fine, but i wanted to go to something lower dose. i ended up just getting off hte pill for 5 months, and now I am on Loestrin 24 Fe. I am almost done with my first pack, and for a couple weeks I've been having the same symptoms I had that prompted me to get an echo in the first place -- pounding heart, feeling like I need to take deep breaths all the time, mild anxiety. I'm not scared because I've felt these things before, but they had stopped for a while, and I think the pill is exacerbating them. I was just going to use the next sample pack before I called my doctor about this. I seem to be doing better today.

I was wondering if anyone else had experienced something similar? Thanks a lot!

Most BCs have the same mild and sereve side effects, because of similar active ingredients. I've only experienced some of the mild/common side effects. Sounds like you're experiencing the more severe/uncommon ones. Maybe BC pills aren't right for your body...

Only you know what you and your body can tolerate. If you want to keep trying your current brand then just keep an eye on yourself.

Most of the time your body just needs time to adjust to the hormones.. but with something more serious you may not want to risk waiting it out.

Just be careful, pay attention to your body. Maybe look into alternative forms of BC just to give yourself more options.

Good luck.. take care.
