Hello,
I am not sure if this is the correct forum I should be posting in, anyways I went to see a chiropractor this week because I was having problems with my upper back. They took my x-ray and showed it to me the next day. Basically, the C curve in my neck goes in the complete opposite direction as a "normal" neck. Don't quote me on this but the chiropractor said something like, it was a severe complete reversed spinal subluxation or something like that. I have tried searching the internet for anything on it, but I am not coming up with anything. Now, I have never had any problems with my neck before and was wondering if problems might occur 10 years from now if something isn’t done. I would have never known about my neck if I wasn't feeling pain in my upper back. The chiropractor wants me to go for adjustments about 90 times for the first year, which I find to be a lot. I am a student in college and working at the same time, I cannot afford anything like that. Also, when I stand I put an extra 20 pounds on my left foot. Anyways, I would like your thoughts on what is going on. By the way, I am 20 years old.
Thank You,
Mike

Mike,
I think the term for reverse lordosis (the correct curve) is KYPHOSIS. Try researching that. Personally I would be very hesitant to let a chiropractor mess with my neck. I have had several do that and they never helped. I have started seeing another type of Dr. called an OSTEOPATH. They do manual manipulations and go thru the same length of training as MDs. They just have a different philosophy. They look at the whole person, not just the body part.
Good luck!

Hi I read your post and smiled because I went to a chiropractor about 15 yrs ago and he wanted to sign me up for the life time plan as well :) He had a great video to reinforce why I should commit to his tratment plan. I never went back to him thinking... quack ...this guy is trying to make a ton of money on poor unsuspecting people.
In retrospect, I believe he did see the begining of my neck woes.
Having said that, do I feel I did the wrong thing not pursuing his plan? No! I still believe he was trying to take taking advantage of a patient in pain.
What I should have done is gone to a reputable Physical therapist who was certified in spine care. BUT ....I didn't know about this option!
And if I had a crystal ball and could see my future neck / spine issues I would have made it a priority. Simple posture exercise can improve things dramatically.
If you have health insurance you should pursue the "reversed spine" issue with a Dr. and see if you can get proper treatment. You will need an RX for physical therapy.
I am sure many Chiros are great but not the one I went to 15 yrs ago! Also every Dr. and physical therapist I consulted had that alarmed look on their face when I mentioned my neck and chiropracty.
Best of luck and health to you.

Hello,
Thanks for the feedback. I went ahead and scheduled an appointment with my family doctor, who will take new x-rays and give me a second opinion. I will be seeing this doctor on March 28. I went back into the chiropractor this morning to look at my x-rays again and the chiropractor showed them to me. Two of my vertebrae in my neck (I think C4 and C5, don’t really remember though), are much smaller than the rest (smaller than C1, C2, C3, C6, etc.) Also, the chiropractor showed me on the x-ray where there were deposits on my vertebrae that are turning into arthritis. My question is, why is there no pain?? And why have I never had pain there?? I know its good that I am not in pain, but shouldn't I technically be? And how can I have the beginning of arthritis at age 20???? Anyways, after that I called the family doctor and made that appointment. I will let you know what they say.....
