View Full Version : MVP and oral contraceptives

has anyone ever had oral contraceptives make their mitral valve prolapse syndrome worse? i'm 20, in good shape, and mine is so tiny, i don't even need to take antibiotics before dental work, but I seem to react strangely to birth control pills. I just started a new one, and my MVP symptoms got triggered (it had gone away for a while, with reduction of diet coke and less stress). i feel like i always need to take a deep breath, my heart pounds from just going up the stairs...i've had this all before, without the birth control pills, so im not very scared that I have a clot or anything. i'm sure other people with MVP have taken birth control pills, so can anyone share a similar experience?

btw, im going to call the doctors office and tell them on monday.
