Hi, All,
I am going through the archives and getting very nervous. I suspect I will have either a laminectomy or ACDF in April for C5-6 severe stenosis. I have a 30lb toddler and am wondering how long it will be til I can watch him by myself? I would have to be able to lift him in order to be alone w him.
Thanks,
Lisa

I had an ACDF of C6/7 at the end of February. I was told that I couldn't lift anything over 5 to 8 pounds for 4 - 6 weeks.

HI - I read your other post. I suspect from what your MRI said that you probably will be offered a multiple level ACDF. Let us know after your appointment.
If you have multiple levels it will be longer, more like 12 weeks or more. I wasn't allowed anything over 10 pounds for 3 months for a multiple level surgery. Especially something which required bending over.
You should be able to do simple care for the kids after a couple weeks, but with caution and creativity on how to bend etc.
