View Full Version : Several lumps!

~K~

I am so miserable. For seven months I have had the feeling of several lumps
all the way down my gullett. Liquids feel lumpy when I drink them, and food hurts between my shoulder blades going down.
None of the PPI drugs - not even double dose Nexium has helped.
Endoscopy showed nothing but stomach erosions and polyps (polyps possibly
from PPI drugs)
Gastro man told me that gerd symptoms would not be CONSTANT. If that
is tha case - what could be wrong with me?
I also have waterbrash which tastes of acid constantly, rather than sudden stronger reflux.
I have had Fibromyalgia for twenty years, but no gastro problems until now.
I have started to wonder if I have a different neurological problem after all.
This stinks...
Thank you in advance for any replies! My main question is can the lumpy gullett sensation be CONSTANT?

I think I am going to say "lumpy gullett" from now on, i'm sick of telling people I have a lump in the throat feeling, now I have a name for it. Thanks :)
I replied to you a while back as well...Me and you have the same problem and like you I have no answers!

The lump in throat sensation or lumpy gullett, for me is constant...i've had it now for 6 months and am going crazy from it. Everyone says its anxiety but I get it weather I am anxiouse or not and even with anti anxiety drugs I have it. Gastro also said everything looks ok, not much acid, so I'm at a loss.
I had a motility test done as well and that was fine.
Have you had a motility test done?
I still take the PPI's, just in case.

Oh alex! I remember your reply, but wasn't sure that your symptoms were CONSTANT I've known so many people use this word to mean three times a week! I mean non-stop...never normal...not for a bloomin minute.

Thank you for the empathy ... you seem to be my suffering twin...
I'm set to have acid/manometry(sp?) tests at the end of April (urgh!)
Who wouldn't be anxious with these symptoms?

Yes like you it's from when I get up until I go to bed. I know what you mean, a lot of time people get the Lump in the throat on and off, it's miserable how we have it all day non stop.
I had the monometry done and it came back normal, i wa sreally hoping for it to show something so that maybe they can cure it...but still I am left empty handed.
If you find relief please share it wth me, I am desperate! :(
Do youh ave breathing trouble as well...that is also a broblem I have, I feel like my throat is being squeezed and I get air hunger.
UGH! I just can't believe this is all from reflux...I don't know?

There are times I feel the "lumps" are suffocating me! The PPIS suppose to cure them GO said but 8months and I am still like this.. sometimes I am wondering if this is still GERD as I think my symtpoms are worse than people I read here :(

I often think the same way, how could this be all due to reflux... I keep getting other things checked because I am still not 100% convinced that this throat and breathing problem is all due to reflux, especially because the PPI's have not helped.

But sure you came back with clear results right? as for me I dont know weather to be happy that my GI doesnt seem bothered about my symptoms (coz he thinks its nothing serious??) or scared that he might overlook the real problem until I just drop dead flat on my face! He just based his findings from an endoscopy last oct 2006, a chest xray and an EKG. Now that my symptoms is mostly about the presure on my head, ear ache and overall body weakness (I feel so lethargic give me a kindergarten crossword and I wont be able to figure it out!) I am thinking.. major brian disorder :dizzy:

Hi,
I've had fatigue, muscle pain and twitches, dizziness for about twenty years
BUT my digestion was FINE. What happened? Does gerd just appear out of the blue? Or have I got a progressive neurological disease?
Very fed-up...

The same thing...all of the sudden I have GERD, even though all my tests say I don't have reflux. I'm so confused.
I just had an MRI done of my cervical spine which showed large bone spurs on the anterior/inside of my neck as well as compressed nerves...I am wondering if this could be causing some of my symptoms. hmm, maybe you should look into that as well, especially since you have tingling.

Hi alex, I did have an MRI five years ago. I have some 'wear and tear' to quote...no mention of spurs. I'm now wondering how much 'wear and tear' ???
In the mean time I'm still waiting for acid/pressure testing (Gulp!)
Why do I have the horrible feeling that those tests will be for nothing?

actually I too think all the tests are not really useful since no matter what the outcome is the doctors will just end up prescribing us with PPIs .. I consulted a GP for my head and throat problems since they are more accomodating than those-too-good-for-our-my-disease speecialist. Well it turned out good.. she came up with a treatment plan for mw.. like trial of meds first to see which works.. I even learn more of my anatomy from her than my anatomy 101 clases.. shes really good.. so far I feel quite better.. she said I dont have any red flag signs to be alarmed... I am hoping this time I am on my way to recovery... hope the same thing for everyone here :)
