How many people have bile reflux? My acid reflux has been under control with meds, diet changes, and exercise but I always have this bitter taste in my mouth and it is driving me crazy. I'm newly diagnosed with pre-Barrett's (is there a difference between pre-Barrett's and Barrett's ? )and am currently taking Prilosec and Reglan. I thought maybe that taste was from all the meds I am taking but I am pretty sure I have had this before, just not as severe or for as long even before I began taking medications. I would be grateful for any info. I am starting to become very depressed over all of this. I am acutely aware of every burp, cough, pain in my throat and chest. I used to be such a happy person....

Hi miknan.. sam ehere..my whole life just really made a huge U-turn after this disease... pre-barretes is the early stage of barrettes... your doc should be doing something about it by nowto prevent further damage. also, you have to be sure the meds your taking is gpoing down on your tummy to dissolve... irritated esophagus sometimes causes pills to get stuck in the track and dissolve there causing bad taste and further irritation on your esophagus.. be sure to drink lots of water with the meds... just hang on in there.. lots of us are doing the same thing :)

Thanks for the advice. I started drinking much more water when I take my meds and it has helped with that bad taste. I think it was the prilosec causing most of the problems. Take care.

I have non-acid reflux according to my doctor (because the ph test showed no acid getting to my esophagus on protonix). However, he didnt mention anything about bile in my stomach or anything. What other kind of reflux could this be? My manometry test showed a weak LES and weak muscle tone throughout the esophagus

I don't understand how someone can have non-acid reflux. How can bile come up from the stomach but acid does not?

I don't know exactly what bile reflux is, but I have fluid that comes up and it's not acidic at all. My throat never burns, but I do get a clearish-yellow substance coming up.

I think it just means that whatever is causing my symptoms has a >4 ph. Not sure what else this could be besides bile though? Maybe just food and other stomach contents?
