Maybe I'm just a goof, I don't know. But when I am relaxed and laying down at night, there's times I just press my 2 fingers (index/middle) into my chest to feel how fast my heart is beating. Now, maybe I just don't know how the heart is supposed to feel from the outside as far as how it beats, but I was also kind of like "Whoa, that's interesting" as to how it felt.
Then I read about murmurs and what they are and I was like, hmm...
However, I've been to the doctors about 3 times in the last 5 years, including once last November. Nobody ever said anything to me. So I was wondering, is it something that's obvious and if anything was wrong I would of been notified? Or is it relatively hard to detect and maybe the doctors didn't notice?

A murmur in most cases can be detected by using a stethoscope.

Right. But it's relatively easy to pick up on I assume? Or does it take a skilled ear and 15 years of experience to find one?

I think it's pretty easy for someone with only the smallest amount of training to pick up. But then, like everything there are probably quiet little murmurs and BIG MURMURS.

It isn't difficult to distinquish. Its an unusual sound that is a harsh grating sound or a blowing sound. It may be attenuated as Lenin comments (illustrates), but almost always it is distinquished by character and sequence. It wouldn't take much experience to determine a murmur, but to correlate to specificity and any degree of impairment would be difficult...requires further testiing.

Then I suppose since I went to the doc's in nov then I should be a-okay. It's just a weird thing that randomly jumped into my head and I figured I'd question it.
Also, do obgyn's listen to your heartbeat when women go for their annual checkup? Could they of been able to hear it too?
