Hi Everyone,

Richard
I'm home ! Wow Things have been going really well. They say I was very combative in recovery .
After I told everyone I loved them I cussed them out and wanted to get up and start walking. One lady came out of recovery and told my sister that I was relly raising hell. They knocked me out for the night. The first night I dont remember. When I woke up the next day I was pain free The only pain I have felt so for has been from having gas.Once I passed the gas and had a BM I was pain free. I'm taking 2 percocets a day right now and a muscle relaxer.
This is my forth day since surgery and I feel great. I can walk about 1200 feet and I can sit for about a half hour. Ahh I can hear the waves crashing and smell the sea air.Damn I can almost see the beach.

Richard,

Glad to hear that everyting went so well for you. You should give wifey a huge hug for letting us know how you were doing in the hospital it was good to hear that everything went well. Sounds like you're on your way. Be careful not to do anything silly like blt, still get plenty of rest so your body can heal properly. Take care and keep us posted, Usta:wave:

Richard, I am so glad to hear that you are doing so well. Just remember as you heal to continue to follow your doctors orders. A couple of us have done some things without thinking/by accident and are suffering set backs.

I can't wait to see you on the beach and ask your wife if she would like to join us? She sounds pretty cool!!

I am so glad things are going well for you. I was also a bear the first day. They gave me morphine and it only took the pain away for a few minutes. I quit ringing the bell and just suffered until a nurse came in and caught me crying. They finaly changed the meds and I got better. The first night was awful. The day of the surgery I gave everyone heck and don't remember it at all.

The beach is nice this time of year.

So glad you are home and feeling well. Don't try to over-do!!! Keep that walking going, you are my hero! I am going on almost 6 weeks postop and feeling better each day. Kinda over did it this weekend, but had a blast with my poor neglected kidlets!

Anyways, hope your recovery continues as smoothly!!

Hugs,
Vickie

Hey,
You know i think a lot of my well being is because of all of you. You guys put my mine in the right place before the operation.Mental preparation is just as important as all the other things that go into the operation. I found all of you just in time to get it some what together before i had the surgery.I know postop will go well and i accept the fact that there may be set backs, but i have all of you to help me as i go forward.

Yes it is a nice day on the beach today, here's a nice spot i think i will lay here and soak up some sun.:D

Wow, your doing fantastic for only being this far from surgery. Definately keep the walking up, and the rest as well.

These surgeries are tough and with up and down days. Take care and keep enjoying that beach...maybe thats what we all need to heal like you, :) haha

I to attribute my recovery to all my buddys help and optimism, after surgery when I got to come home the first thing I wanted to do was get to you guys. I also had it instilled in my brain to walk, walk, walk.

After surgery that first night, I was screaming, yeah screaming in pain telling the nurse to help me, although I don't remember much of it now thank the lord, they called my doctor at two am, and he changed my meds or something. The next morning when I was up walking...like everyone instilled in my head, he was on the phone lookeed up saw me, and his eyes got huge and gave me the thumbs up. He couldn't believe I was walking....but if it weren't for you guys burning it into my brain I am sure I would have been staying in bed crying or something.

Richard, I'm glad it went so well! Aren't you glad you're on the other side of surgery? Now all you have to do is rest and walk and keep up your pain meds. Also rest and walk and keep up your pain meds. While you're at it, don't forget to rest and walk and keep up your pain meds!

You'll see improvement week by week, but just be careful not to overdo it on your better days. Just keep resting and enjoy those better days.

Glad you're home and back on the board!

Blessings,
Emily

Just remember to take it easy. Walking does help. I thought it helped to walk off the pain.

Yvette they had to change my meds too the first night was awful. I then also got up and walked. I shocked the therpy people cus I walked 1200 ft that first walk. The more I walked the better it felt. This is still true today

Richard I am glad you have your wife to help you and remember that overdoing it hurts so try to limit your activity and just gain a little each day. Taking a huge step will set you back a couple of days
