I am 1 1/2 months out of surgery and I have such stiffness and pain in my hip area. I also have nerve pain that wakes me up at night. The only thing that helps is a combo of suboxone, Ultram and Vicodin. For those who are months out of surgery, how long is it before you really get better

Hi PA!!
I just wanted to share with you that I am 6 weeks out from a fusion and I am dealing with hip and leg pain too!! Several people have responded to me and told me that week 5 and 6 were horrible for them as far as nerve pain so I wanted to be sure to pass that along to you too.
Take care and know that I care.

Hi and welcome to the board,
I believe around this time of my fusion, my hip pain started. It kinda felt like a stretch, catching pain. My doctor prescribed Neurontin, and the pain subsided.
Good luck to you and I hope you get some relief soon

I know I am only a few days post op, but I think six weeks is still early I mean, all your stuff has to regenerate, grow, heal etc etc etc your body's been through alot

Hey Guys
Thanks for answering me back. I thought that I was a mutant, because no one could understand the nerve pain, how it felt and how it made me feel. It is great to "meet" people who have truly walked in my shoes

Welcome to the group!
A month and half is really early. It takes 6 months for fusion...some folks will tell you that it's a year before you are truly healed. Nerves that were moves and touched are fussing and need time to settle back down and get happy!
Also, if you aren't moving at night, you will get stiff and sore. The muscles pull themself back in and then you go and move them all over again. Nights that I know I haven't moved I am so stiff and sore it sometimes takes me 5 minutes just to get to a sitting position on the side of the bed...and I am two years out of surgery...
The is a good place for information and to just vent if you wish. We all ar in some sort of back issues, and most people have experieinced one form of bakc relief or another....
welcome to your own little cyber back family...

Hey Guys
Thanks. You are right about the movement. If I lay down I get so sore I have to use the log roll again. In fact for the last few days, if I lay down I have to log roll to get on my other side or get up. My disability company is trying to force me back to work and I can't do it. I tried sitting up in a chair like the one I use at work and it was agony, also I have to drive 45 minutes each way. Just the idea makes me want to cry. Somebody talked about dropping things and that seems to be me, everytime I pick something up I drop it. Figured it was the "jelly side down" theory.
I am glad that you guys are out "there".
