I saw awhile back on the Today Show that shampoos with sulfates are not good for curly hair. However, all the ones I have found don't smell very good. They all have sort of the hippie treehugger natural scent (no offense to anyone). I'm just looking for more of the typical shampoo smells, but in a sulfate free formula...as well as a conditioner. Any suggestions?

Also has anyone found it to be true that these shampoos work better on curly hair?

Which brands and scents have you tried? I've smelled some natural shampoos that smell very good.

I have thick, curly hair as well and finding a great product that really WORKS has been like finding the holy grail. :) I finally found my my HG shampoo and conditioner - yes, it's sulfate free, doesn't contain a lot of ingredients you can't pronounce and no silicones that create that false sense of softness that disappears within a couple weeks.
I use Sudzz FX - usually found in hi-end beauty supply stores and salons.
It's expensive but truly concentrated and a little goes a long way. I've actually saved $$ by buying the 33 [liter size] of conditioner since I tend to use 3x more conditioner than shampoo. Sudzz FX truly is miraculous stuff - the amount I use daily is about the size of a quarter and it evenly distributes throughout my hair - I've tried many other hi-end conditioners and either they didn't work or I had to use so much product I couldn't afford it.
Trust me, this stuff works and it smells good too! :blob_fire

hi everyone. As all of us are (especially the girls with curly hair), are looking for their holy grail as well. Can anyone tell me where I can find Sudzz Fx shampoo and conditioner? I live in Maryland and I have not been able to find it. If worse comes to worse I suppose I could send off for it but I would rather find it somewhere and just go buy it! I have checked my local high end beauty supply store and they have never even heard of it but I would like to try it! thanks

Hi Melanie, I just heard about and started using SudzzFX last August - it is a bit difficult to find. I live in Southern California and have only found 2 salons that carry it - they're pretty picky about their distribution. Um, we're not allowed to post web links on this forum, but if you were to search for the term "sudzzfx" you'll find something like Sudzz FX - The Inside Story of Extraordinary Treatment Liquids - this is their home page. From there is a salon locater for the general area you can call for more local salons.
I rotate several products in this line. Cashmere shampoo for uber dry hair, honey shampoo, Aquafix conditioner, and Moxee [ultra conditioner]

You could always try using a Baby Soap that doesn't have sulfates in it, and then just find a good coniditioner to use that is moisturizing. I use Grins & Giggles baby shampoo by Gerber-- it's the Aloe Vera kind. It's tear free & hypoallergenic, and it's really inexpensive. If you can't find that, then just look at the ingredients on other shampoos and make sure they don't have sulfates.
Hope that helps some. :)
