Hi. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to start looking younger in the face. I'm currently taking my vitamins 3x a day and it has a lot of vitamin c in it. Along with the other common vitamins. I have dark circles under my eyes but I'm using a Avon product for that. They're starting to get a little less dark. So what else can I do to start looking younger?

Definitely wear some sunscreen and drink lots of water. You can also do thing with your makeup to look younger.. you don't want to wear TOO much of it, but to apply it carefully instead. Make sure you find a good foundation that blends in well with your skin type. I apply mine before my moisturizer dries and it blends in really well. Then I use a fan brush to dust a little bit of shimmery bronzer across my cheeks up to my temples. It gives me a nice glow and makes my skin look soft and bright. To brighten up your eyes and make them look more awake, use a white shimmery powder just under the arch of your eyebrows and in the inner corners. Just blend it so it doesn't look super bright. It really helps out my eyes when I look tired!

All the simple, usual good stuff LOL! - wear sunscreen, drink lots of water, don't smoke, keep drinking to a minimum, get plenty of sleep, eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies, don't get stressed, keep your weight normal. Try Olay Regenerist products - they've been rated the best for wrinkles and keeping the skin young. Oh, color your hair if you got any grey!

Sunscreen, water water water!!!, and don't smoke.
The make-up tips probably won't help you since you're male. ;)

One more thing that can positively make one look younger. Smiling. It just brings the youthfulness out in people. Look at people who are smiling compared to those who are frowning. It's a considerable difference in their appearance. :)

Thank you all for the great tips. And yes I should avoid the make up tip since I am a male ;). Summer is coming so drinking plenty of water shouldn't be an issue for me.

How do we start looking younger? That's a good question but it hasn't a good answer. So far, all we can look forward is looking older. It's pretty hard to reverse that process. We can try by eating nutritious food, getting enough sleep, taking vitamins, exercising and avoiding bad habits like smoking and drinking and eating too much. Some creams may help a bit (not much and many times not at all). Even sunscreen, although it is a must, is still a preventative measure, not something that can reverse damage already done. Still, even when we do all the right things, we still age and how well you age is mostly determined by your genes. If your parents aged well, chances are you will too. If the opposite is true, then that's the way it is. Yes, we can help our facial appearance a bit but the rest is what fate dealt you.

I forgot to mention that I'm 19 years old so I haven't started aging heavily yet. So I guess my real question was... how do we age in the best way and best healthy way possible. How to slow the aging process down a bit if you can. I'm currently taking a whole food based multivitamin 3 times a day. I thinking that can help slow the aging process down a bit... can it?

I hate to disappoint you again but not much can be done to slow down the aging process and believe me, many have tried. To find that elusive "fountain of youth" has been a goal for eons. So far, nada. Yes, we can do a little bit to help by taking good care of ourselves but time will march on, no matter what we do. Well, you could wear sunscreen everyday and that will prevent a lot of damage done by the sun and that in itself is a great help for your skin and just about the only sure thing as far as prevention in skin care. Treatment of damage is much less successful.
As far as other type of aging my suggestion is to keep active, both physically and mentally. That will keep you "youthful" for a lifetime and make your journey much more of a joy ride.

DAMN, I was so hoping for it :D
Your post made me laugh Rita, and I agree with everything you said. I think aging is difficult for a lot of people as far as looks, because our society defines beauty as youth. Wouldn't it be great if the more wrinkles and sags, the more beautiful? :D
Hey one thing that has helped my skin is Camilla oil. I started using it about six months ago- at least- and my skin has improved.

My goal is not to prevent aging. But to promote "healthy" aging. So I can take all the antioxidants I want and wear sun screen and that still won't promote healthy aging?

Staying out of the sun and wearing tons of sunscreen when in it will help you keep your youthful appearance longer. Drinking a lot of water, not smoking, eating a healthy balanced diet will all do wonders. You are going to age, that's a given, but you can take great care to age well. Take a long look at people who smoke, worship the sun, eat bad diets, you will see they look 10-20 years older than their actual age. It's never to late to start on moisturizers either. Don't forget that smile. :)

All of the above plus exercise. I can drink water, take flax and olive oil, etc, and use sunscreen but if I don't exercise, it shows. It even seems to show in my hair when I don't, not just skin and shape.

Junior,
I agree that nothing will prevent us from getting old, but you can still age beautifully. The very wise posters have offered you an array of useful suggestions that will help turn you to into one hot older gentleman..... eventually. ;) But, there are some new ways to turn back the clock on your appearance, in the form of lasers, radio waves and injectables. Even today many older people use these methods to tighten skin, resurface and reverse sun damage and remove fat deposits. Nothing replaces a healthy diet and exercise, but when the time comes there will be options to help you keep that edge and remain competitive, without the need for invasive, old fashioned procedures. Just imagine what they will have developed, by the time you need it.

Another thing you can do is facial exercises. Keeps your face muscles toned (just like your body) and tightens tones the skin. I usually do them in the car on the way to work where no one can see me cause I look pretty scary when I'm contorting my face like that!

I recommend reading "Facebuilder for men", it's an awesome book. Also, take DMAE capsules and Hyaluronic Acid pills. MSM powder is also a great supplement for the skin. Take lots of flax, hemp, extra-virgin coconut, or olive oil. All of these have benefitical fatty acids in them. Stay away from skin care products with parabens, alcohol, and anything you can pronounce. More than likely, those will inhibit healthy aging. Sweat at least once a day. if there is a health club with an infared sauna nearby, use it. Also go easy on sunscreens, use them only after you have 15 minutes of moderate sun exposure. That 15 minutes keeps you from looking pale and creates vitamin D, which is helpful in preventing cancer. You may go longer, but DON'T get sunburned. 35 mins. should be a maximum. Also, your skin has a slightly-acidic pH, so use only pH balanced products. This will also promote healthy aging.

I am not sure how much genetics plays into aging, at least in my family. I have two older sisters....one aged great, the other looks more wrinkled (even though she is the younger one) yet they are similar in their lifestyles. Either way I am not taking my chances.....I avoid the sun, use good skin care and have regular laser treatments on my face and neck. It is amazing the wonders that they have worked on my wrinkles around the eyes and neck. I naturally dont have to work out to keep a healthy and young body (maybe that is genetics?) and my sisters are naturally fit as well....but heck, I am going to do all I can to keep my face young.

Sadly genetics plays a part in how we age. Maybe not so much in the wrinkle department but in the saggy department. I would mych rather be a sinker than a sagger. If you are a sinker as you age your skin starts to look shallow, skining inward. For that they have fat injections, collagen or the other fillers. For a sagger your skin just starts to go south on your face like a hound dog. The only thing to cure that is to remove the excess skin.
I am thinking about beginning that regime that stars like Goldie Hawn, Ginger from Gilligans Island, Jennifer Aniston, Cher and a few others do which is to drink a green malt everymorning. There are a few varities but for the most part it's just 1 to 2 things different in them. They are made with Kale, Kelp,Dandelion Greens, Broccoli,Alfalfa Sprouts,Kamut Grass.
They have a bottle of powdered greens at GNC that you mix with water. I just can not seem to bring myself to try it. I think the next time I go to the Whole Foods Market I will see if I can buy just 1 bottle already pre mixed to start of with in the cooler section. It just sounds so bad.

I think weight changes are also a big influence in the sagging department! It seems best to keep a consistent weight.....

My family has always fluctuated between having 10 lbs gain and lost. My aunts and unlces grandma grandpa all had and have very saggy skin. My grandmother was as skinny as a rail around a size 4 her whole life and she was the saggiest of them all. More saggy than the ones with meat on them. Her face was in a bad way bless her heart. They don't smoke some do drink but never went to clubs or got drunk. We had a few black sheep that did tend to the wilds way but the majority of the family is hard core Babtist and Mormon and the rest are and were Jehovah's Witness.
The faces in my family are just plain saggy with turkey waddles for necks. I'm so not looking forward to getting old. Maybe by then they will have improved the Threadlift and /or contour Thread procedure and I won't have to get cut on. :D
