Yes I have breathing problems! It feels like my chest is tight or my nose is stuffed up. I can always breathe a little easier when I am relaxed or when my throat doesn't feel really tight. I think this must be a muscular thing why we have this breathing problem. Any other thoughts?

My breathing problem is more describes as someone squeezing my throat, like I can't get enough air in. It's horrible.

Hi I suffer from acid reflux and can be sitting watching TV and without warning it comes up into my mouth acid burning and then goes into my windpipe I am gasping for breath and feel like I am going to die
Some days I feel like my breathing is not quite as it should be and I feel like I have something pressing on the inside of my lower respiritory area but not sure it is related to reflux. I find I feel it when going along in a car and feel I have to keep taking deep breaths of air to keep my lungs breathing.

I Always Feel Like I Have To Take A Deep Breath And Im Trying To Figure Out If Its A Panic Dsorder Or Something Like That But Then I Read That Reflux Causes Breathing Problems. I Get Heartburn Once In A While. How Do I Find Out If I Have This? Is There A Test Or Should I Get A Prescription For A Med For Heartburn? And If So What Is The Best Med For This? Thanks

You should consult our doctor to see how severe your case is.. the meds depends how badly your reflux is... usualy they will advice you to take PPI, this meds reduces acids... although from my experience didnt remove all symptoms of GERD. The doc may ask you to do endoscopy to see the extent of your reflux as well.

I Started Having These Breatjing Problems 3 Years Ago And I Keep Hearing Its Anxiety But I Just Feel Like Its Something More. I Could Be Wrong But I Just Went To Doctor And He Gave Me Samples Of Nexium So I Will See If This Works, Im Hoping It Does Because Im Tired Of Feeling Like I Cant Breathe Right. What Did Your Breathing Problems Feel Like? Mine Are Pretty Much Constant, Always Taking A Deep Breath, It Also Kinda Feels Like My Stomach Muscles Tighten Up Which Makes It Hard To Get That One Good Breath In.
Thanks

Mine is constant as well for 8months now. Most of the time it will trigger my panic attack and I feel like its my last day on earth1 I am always thinking is my husband will be home in time to save me or he'll just come home to find me lifeless on the floor  This disease is just horrible. Anyways does any of you also feel like the air your breathing is cold? like even when its already inside your chest it feels cold? like the body suddenly lost its capabilities to make the air we breath in hot. I think that is what causing my LPR. Even though our weather here is hot ones I inhale I feel like I am drowning with cold air. :dizzy:

YES YES YES, I have the same feeling, like the air is so cold in my chest.
I can't even believe you said that, because yesterday I was wondering if anyone else has this feeling. My breathing has been terrible, all day long, but bad. I have been eating things I normally don't and I am really regressing. I always have tight throat and breathing all day, but now it is worse. I am still taking Aciphex to no avail.

Yes not being able to get a deep breath, yawning a lot, out of breath, tired, exhausted, fatigued, just can't breathe but strangely I also CAN breathe. It's just very uncomfortable.

I have always wondered what others experience from shortness of breath caused by acid reflux ?? I take two PPI's every day and I watch what I eat so I really don't have much of the burning and belching any more yet I suffer from the shortness of breath really really bad for about 8 years now, and it is getting worse. I can usually breath in, but can't breath out, and when I "try" to fall asleep at night it feels as though I am going to stop breathing all together. Right now I have a cold, so my nose is all stuffy making it worse. Last night I slept onlly three hours then I had to get up and go to work.....Next week I will go to yet another Lung Clinic ??... Wish we could all get just a little relief !...Pat:dizzy:

I just don't know why the breathing is such a problem for us and it does not get better. There has to be a cause for this...is it that the PPI's have made the breathing worse? Sometimes I wonder!

Well I Dont Think I Have Reflux But I Do Have Breathing Problems So Maybe Its Not Caused By Reflux. Who Knows!!

I don't think the PPI'S would cause shortness of breath for me anyway, because I had problems breathing before I statrted the PPI'S...and it's not asthma becasue I was tested for it a few years ago...Wish we could all get just a little relief ! PAt

I've had reflux for 12 years and in the past 3 months, I feel like I can't breathe. I'm scared to eat and my doc has me going through test after test. Everything comes back good...but I still can't breathe and I'm always dizzy, especially after I eat. I've been in the hospital 4 times in two months and still have no clue what's wrong. When I eat or drink(even water), I feel awful. I can't breathe and feel dizzy for about an hour. My Protonix is working because I have no heartburn or indigestion. But something is wrong and I have no idea what it is.

doyle....
I have the same problem, that even water makes my breathing bad. I just think that we all have something that is being overlooked...How can we be told we have no reflux but then be treated for reflux and still have the breathing problems??? I just don't understand. We can't all be crazy!!
It really irritates me that they can't help us! I have tried so many things even herbal remedies and salt pipes etc... nothing helps.
I'm at a loss as well!

I still have a few tests to go through...but. My next test is swallowing a pill that has a camera in it to take pics of my whole digestive tract. They asked me if I'll be ok not eating for 24 hours...It's kinda funny that they asked that because I hadn't eaten in about 40 hours when they asked me. And where I live, there is only 1 gastro doc and every appt. is a month away. So I have a test in May and in June I might find out what's wrong. Until then, I'll try to keep breathing.

Many GERD sufferers also sufferer from one of 80 sleep disorders and respiratory ills. It would be worth consulting a few other specialists to make sure that GERD is your only problem.

Who to consult? Allergist/Immunologist, ENT, and a Sleep Specialist.

Sincerely,
MG
