View Full Version : Three weeks post op activities

Hi everyone,

I had my two week post-op follow-up appointment last week. My stitches were taken out, and my incision looks great, except where the skin around it is dead and flaking off.

I was shown some exercises to do with clay that are to start next week. However, I wasn't told exactly what I should and should not be doing activity-wise at this point. I'll be three weeks post op this coming Thursday (March 22.)

Does anyone know if I can lift or pull or grip at this point?

Thanks and hugs,

Lisa

Ask the doctor what he recommends. Doctors have different post op care.

On the first surgery on my left hand, the ortho surgeon said I could do anything as long as I had the cock up splint on. I had to pretty much beg to get physical therapy, even though my primary care doctor had noted to ortho doc that I should do PT. I started PT at 7 weeks post op....and went for approximately 4 months.

For the second surgery on the same hand, the hand surgeon said no lifting anything over 2 pounds for around 4-6 weeks. I had exercises to do for fingers...tendon and nerve gliding. I wasn't to do pulling, pinching pushing or cutting with a knife from the time the stitches were out and the next appt. After that I had physical therapy for a couple of months.
