View Full Version : Gypsybird--asthma and diet advice

Gypsybird, after reading your suggestions on another thread, I too would like some advice. I asked my allergist about testing for food allergies last year because I have been reading that there may be some "hidden" food allergies or sensitivities that lead to health problems. He wouldn't do the testing with me because I didn't have an obvious anaphalactic reaction or severe hives. Any suggestions on how to find someone who could do the testing for me. I found a couple local Naturopathic doctors listed in my area who would be able to do it, but they are not covered by insurance and I am spending about $400 a month on medicine co-pay and can't afford to pay out of my pocket for a visit with them.

All the books I have read on elimination diets to determine allergies state I should be under a doctor's supervision. My challenge is finding a doctor I can afford who believes in this and is willing to help me through it. I am certainly up to more homeopathic solutions to my problem.

My symptoms: Asthma that has gotten worse over the last 5 years, severe allergies year-round (I have tried immunotherapy and it was mostly unsuccessful), chronic sinus infections, acid reflux, excema, dermatitis. I also have a history of frequent antibiotic use and use of Prednisone.
